have a health story, one that validates vaping in a huge way, to me.Without getting into it too much a throat issue (barretts) that was cleared up 100%( four threatments of ablation in a little over a year period ) that now instead of looking at a 3/4 on the pre-cancer cell chart looks like a new born babies throat.Last week the doc said to not see him again for 2 to 3 years.In the past it was see me every couple months and lets light up your esophagus.The only thing I did different was vape instead of smoke, even gained 9 pounds last year.The chart is clear or not on a pre-cancer chart and really wanted to share that info with others to evaluate their options of how to fix the most important patient(themselves).The original issue was hereditary in nature from acid reflux eating the esophagus that was discaovered but not cured thru medicine for the year prior to quitting smoking or having any ablations.

thanks MuddyWaterMan ,keelalagirl55 , the scary part was always had acid reflux as a kid and never know it was not normal to have it come up in the throat and burn like battery acid once a month or so till i got way older.Have never had heartburn or taken any anacids in my life but the burning should have been a signal, I guess.

Awesome success story!!! My hubby would get heartburn (acid reflux) when he smoked.....once off the analogs, no more heartburn.

Congrats potholerepairman!!!

I used to get heartburn frequently too, and migraine headaches. I carry advil and tums everywhere I go. I have little baggies of them in each car, travel kits, heck, even in my golf bag. But in the 2 weeks or so that I have been vaping, (week or so without analogs) I have yet to have a migraine or heartburn. might be able to stop buying generic advil in bottles of 5000 at Sam's now. :)

I have a similar experience to share. FYI, I'm soon to be 25.
I had been suffering from GERD for about 3-4 years (about the time I started smoking P funk hundies) up until about 2 days ago. It had caused a constant gagging feeling deep in the throat near where my nasal passages bring in air. I thought I suffered from some kind of constant dryness in my throat/sinuses. Drinking COLD beverages usually alleviated the choking/gagging. However, atypically bad "flareups" would always end in vomiting a foamy, bitter, brown spattered mucous (sorry, it was gross for me too). Sometimes this would wake me from my sleep. This is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or (GERD). It's basically Acid Reflux eating away at your esophagus. It can get to be way worse and sometimes require surgery.

Cigarettes definitely increased the severity and frequency of flareups. If I could not drink while I was smoking (like outside the bar), I was sure to have to stop smoking at about half the cig or bare it and try to hide my vomiting. I always carried mouthwash with me for what little that did to clean my mouth.

The symptoms are gone now. I mean, not 100% gone but I haven't had the slightest inkling of a gagging sensation since I quit smoking and started vaping (7 days). As of yesterday, I can jump out of bed in the am, run outside to get the mail , make my breakfast, etc... I don't need to run to the fridge for some water first thing. Before I quit smoking, these things were literally impossible! The faster I got ready in the morning, the longer I spent on the way to work gagging or worse. It's all gone. It's as if I've taken some medicinal cure. I seriously didn't expect this much relief.

Congatulations to you potholerepairman!
I'm hoping by posting this people will understand that reflux /"agida"/agitare can have serious consequences.
One of my friends just died from Barrett's which had a genetic start. He could not stop smoking though he did stop drinking but the ablations and chemo didn't work for him and he died last year.
I wish he had gotten diagnosed when we first knew he was ill {vomiting blood from drinking}
His father also had it but was treated early enough and he survived.
Acid reflux can turn into Barrett's and key to surviving I think, is having it checked out
at the first signs of reflux trouble.
When he finally did go into the emergency room being pretty sick, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Barrett's.
There wasn't much they could do by that point.
He is sorely missed.:blush:
