-1.8 Ohm dual coil Atty

Howdy,

So this problem has started very recently. I've ran out of the original 2 Ohm atty's that i used to use and got some Kangertech 1.8 Ohms that would do the same job of the 2 Ohms, since they were phased out. I've used one with no problem, then I've put another in as that one has seen better days. The vape would slow down (and of course the Protank 3 leakage would still continue). I've also noticed that when you vape on the 1.8's, the cotton strands would come out of the 2 tiny holes on the sides of the atty's, compared to the 2 Ohms that have long vertical exposed cotton. The vape has vastly started decreasing to now I'm only sucking on air, and the atty isn't even firing. This seems that the connection between the power, and atty is cut. I've been searching for hours and I've been tinkering around to no avail. Any suggestions?
//////////

*I've pulled the pin on the bottom of the atty (does nothing - it resets in same place when screwed back on).
*Cleaned everything
*Put in new atty's/batteries
*Even used the old 2 Ohm's
/////////

###SOLUTION###
-Possible cross threading with atty/base
-Atty won't fire unless the power button on the mod is angled a certain way while pressed to create contact w/ battery

First off, welcome to the forum. Stick with us and we'll help you through any problems and get ya back to vaping in no time! Stick around long enough and you'll contract the very contagious syndrome known around here as 'Shinyitis' or 'G.A.S.' (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). :lol: There is no shortage of people posting pics of their shiny new mod and then you'll just have to have one for yourself! :D

Now, on to your problem! Thanks @Katmar for the bump!

The problem with the atty not firing sounds like one of two problems (both related). The bottom pin of the atty isn't making contact with the positive pin of the mod. It sounds like you've checked the atty side, so my suggestion would be to look at the mod side of things. I'm not familiar with the Kamry, but most mech mods have an adjustable positive pin. Break down the Kamry and make sure that the pin it pushed as far up (towards the atty thread) as possible. Screw the atty onto the top portion of the Kamry, then put the Kamry back together with the atty still attached.

As for the wick coming out of the holes in the atty head... there isn't much you can do about that. You can either replace the coil head, or you can re-wick it yourself with a bit of cotton or rayon. That can be a bit tricky, but it is definitely do-able.

I've tinkered a bit with the mod side in regards to the firing pin and it seems that it is pressure forced into place and unable to move. However it seems that it is still in the same spot since the day of purchase, and with the atty pin recessing after i screw it back onto the mod, it kinda confirms that the firing pin is not the problem.

Also, if you have an ohm reader or a standard multimeter, you can check the atty head to see if it is still 'good'. With an ohm reader, just put the whole atty together and then screw it onto the reader. With a multimeter, set it to resistance (ohms) and touch one lead to the outside of the head and the other lead to the positive firing pin. It should read ~1.8 ohms on the meter.

Sorry if I'm getting too basic... it's kinda like tech support over the phone. I'm not sure what you know or what all you've tried, so I'm just starting at the absolute basics here... feel free to smack me and point me to where you would rather start. ;)

Tbh, i've never taken the attys apart before :D. They said these are the same since they no longer make 2 ohms. I'll have to take em apart an check. But even when I use my old 2 ohms that I still have, the atty doesn't seem to fire either.

Oh, I just meant do the atty heads look identical to each other... you don't have to tear that down to the coils.

One last thing, and I gotta bail for the day... using a volt meter, touch the positive lead to the positive pin on the mod (with no atty installed) and the negative lead to the thread section and hit the fire button. You should read battery voltage. If not, then the problem is definitely with the mod.

I think i've solved the problem! :) So i was messing around with the atty and i've been noticing that it becomes loose after i assemble the whole thing (cleaning out some leakage) then dissembling. I've held down the fire button and loosened/tightened the atty and noticed that it fired. I seems that it could have been cross threaded somehow (idk how).... I've put in a new atty and it vapes now. And it wont fire unless i angle the firing button a certain way (I think this was the major culprit). Just waiting for the flavor and big vapes to come back again. :)

Also the 1.8s have 1 more thread on them, compared to the 2 ohms.
