Listen C that great 29g 9/10 turn on .07" puts any new vaper within minutes in the flavor zone. They're right there experiencing some of the best at 12W that vaping can deliver. A standard Sig and a PT2 or Aero can deliver almost as much flavor and vapor volume as some of the other tanks I'm now looking at. It's kind of amazing that a simple tool and nature can help us do that but there it is.

The fact that so many of you now are in a position to pass that gift along to others is a wonderful thing. I wish I could've walked into that 18 months ago.

vape on and pass it on!

Good luck.

:)

have tried so so many different builds and gauges, but always seem to come back to the 29 10/9 ! simple and effective with plenty of flavor and vapor.

Picked up this tip I posted on the thread...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-setup-high-viscosity-juice-protank-ii.html

Just to add my 2¢ on the OT, I'm testing wind variations on Kanger's dual-coil assembly using 3M's Nextel XC-132.

I run 100% or high-vg juices for the stress test, worst case scenarios. The d/c heads have been problematical because ceramic can really flow. Once going ceramic, although typically not as permeable through it's girth, can really seep badly down to the 510 with low batt power, successive short draws or just resting after a long hot chain.

I've recently been more successful on the Mega which can seep like mad by using an XC-116 (1/16") top wick to better fill the considerably longer wick slot. That is, instead of an identical top wick of the XC-132 (slim, or 2mm) The draw is only slightly constricted by this but the seeping past gaps of the wicks in the slot when viscosity is low is markedly reduced. Definitely makes for a lot less having to dry out of bases and drip tip connection and a much more comfortable vape. And it allows more substantial, longer draws and consecutive pulls without surprises.

This stop gap (sorry) is useful and works on the regular PT3 or Aero just not as necessary with tensioned d/c coils as you're typically not inducing as much flow with high power (<15W). If you like to push your Protank up above the typical 9-12W most enjoy for this tank you may want to try this.

At the end of the day it's about maximizing the potentials of the marriage of wick, wire and airflow while constraining the likely negative attributes of our wonderful 510 connection.

Good luck.

:)

Vape on and pass it on!

Really nothing wrong with my previous dual coil single strand 29awg tensioned micro build but I can't leave well enough alone sooooo....

32awg (28 twists/inch), 9/8 (lower), 8/7 (upper), 5/64(2mm) dia, dual tensioned micro coils, netting .88ohms, KGD wicking.Similar res as the previous 29awg single strand duals.

Pros: Flavor is off the chain (for a Kanger). Best so far with the Mega. Coil temp is easily manageable with draw effort at 27watts. Chaining is less problematic; less runaway temp and flooding than single strand tmc. Build is super stable; the four twisted 32awg legs provide ideal compression of the insulator/grommet.Vapor production and density are outstanding and only slightly sub-par to my Billow RTA with similar build/wattage although I can run the Billow at 40w if desired.

Cons: Twisted is fussy. Conceiled wick heads require drilling for this setup but transport juice from the tank more consistanty than exposed wick heads imo. Not as efficient as single strand micros; requires slightly more power. Not for noobs.

Just hav'n fun......

Holy crap...look at this new dingfod joytech is coming out with for the e-grip.
It's a tiny kayfun style rebuildable coil head base that fits the e-grip with an accessory to temporarily mount it to a 510 type mod to ohm check and test fire it before mounting it in the e-grip.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cABblOvmnqM

So how long until one of us, or them designs a similar device that'll screw onto an aerotank (standard or mega) ?

Along the same lines, I'm wondering about an adapter ring that'll allow the sub tank occ style coil base to mount onto existing megas and maybe even regular aerotanks. Hmmmm ?

Mac...
Not only are you teaching us Tensioned coil tech... you're inflating our vocabulary too :)
Diaphanous: "gauzy clouds of dandelion down"... "vaporous silks"

Now if someone would just put up a glossary of some of these acronyms and abbreviations, I'd ...well... dunno yet
what the heck does "UE" stand for ????? :-x

ps... That was one sloppy azz build that brit dude did in the video...sheeesh !
Oh and gosh darnit...now I'm going to have to buy one of these new 22mm sub tanks just to have something newer kanger wise to tweak on arrrgh it never ends

Having a good time with my Egrip. The rba is great although tiiiiny. Excellent vapor density and flavor better than any of the kangers imo; subtank excluded. Little buggy on the first release and battery life could be better(1500mah)

My brother and I were rofl watching that vid. It takes less effort to describe what he did right than wrong sooooo; he bought a subtank and used kanthal

Can't wait for the 22mm to become available too!

Yep been trackin' the grip for a while. Cigatron's been leading the charge on tensioned tech over there. Some great posts. The sub tank's got a kayfun style oven thanks to Rip T and I think more than a few admonishments somewhere here on ECF 'bout Kanger discouraging rebuilding. Dunno.

Interesting thing about the base ring but cig and many others have noted we're restricted by the maximum Ø of the pos pin hole for airflow. The internal design of the bases has improved matters though. For the Mega, there seems to be no remedy. It appears permanently set on T-I-G-H-T and despite the coffee stirrer draw a sip can flood it. I like the form factor and the quality of flavor from it with a variety of winds…but that pin hole and the resulting seep potential on the tank is just sad. I've concluded the Mega was a filler to keep sales up while they wrapped up R&D on the subbies. Foolish us. And that's why I had stopped buying every permutation of Kanger's 'till they decided to make us a real tank. See! They can do it.

It's 99% or more of the tutorials in the electronic space that show us how to scorch the vape. You'd think we would've gotten good enough at it by now to know why it's happening.

Forgive me too. I got tired of using the word diffuse. Diaphanous is sexier but really doesn't grab you where it burns. Back to the drawing board.

Good luck.

Thanks Mac, signed up for the giveaway. YOUR odds haven't changed, historically I never win anything.lol

Subtank Mini. Hard to tell if it has a two piece chimney like it's big brother. Extra glass is a nice touch although thinner than the sub. Big bonus: doesn't appear to require an airtube swap to move between occ and rba mode...sweeeeet.

Hey, maybe that's why the extra glass, huh?

As strange as this might sound my gut tells me it's not going to be as popular as the big boy. Everybody's headed to bigger and hotter is better. Vapertek's singular preorder endorsement is not very compelling. Time to change the canvas. Like everything else the current mania will have to ride out its trajectory. We'll catch the sales all the the way down. It'll be raining heat soon enough. Me I'm stayin close to the 50W line as I'm known to do (despite my clandestine forays into surreal builds) content with the fact that I know how to stabilize vape temperatures with the tools I got.

Dont' worry cig, the juice is going to save us all. :D

Meantime…tension is forever.

Good luck.

:)

p.s. Kanger, don't forget, we're gonna need a heck of a lot more red seals!

(Hopefully, they'll fit the Mega.)

Hey now some of us are still here! Were just applying the science to our Kayfun 4s and Magmas now so we don't feel right contributing to the thread since the PTs went back in their boxes! ;)

It's a phase mono…this too shall pass. LOL

But tension is forever.

:D

Good luck.

So sad, but true. All of my kangers except the Mega have been pif'd to help folks get over. Makes me feel good because I sold those folks on tension tech and proper set. Amazing what a 63 year old woman can do with a little instruction, a cigamajig, and magnification. Have to admit, she is a retired seamstress and probably has greater dexterity than I.

Building with tension tech on the Lemo, Billow and Egrip platforms now. Soon the Subtank Mini.

I started here, listened and learned here, hate to see my school close. Know what I mean?

Yeah the learning never stops so I'm subscribed so I can still keep up! If it weren't for this thread 6 months ago, I'd still be buying Kanger replacement heads! I'd probably have never got my first KFL if it wasn't for everything you folks taught me! (After 2 KFLs, my 2nd KF4 is on its way haha)

I still gotta get around to making a cigamajig! Especially now that I'm working again and can afford it haha!

Which Lemo do you have? Is there more than one? Can you post a link? So tired of leaking Taifuns. Went three days without a leak and BAM here it is AGAIN

I have just recently figured out how to rebuild the protank coils but I am running into problems with flooding. I make a micro coil and wick it with Japanese cotton. Its fits snuggley but with just a little resistance.

I have tried putting another small piece of cotton as a flavor wick but that seems to make the draw tighter...and this is with the airflow contoller base.

Any tips on how I can fix this?

Thanks!
