Mac, do i remember you saying that the silicone grommets for sale at Lightning Vapes, is less slippery than the kangers ? Just about out of grommets and was wondering if i should order rubber or silicone.
I'm on Sean's website just as I'm reading your post maz. First, looking at the fine selection of raw core assemblies he's got on hand. Since you guys have gotten the jump on me where the dual-coil assemblies are concerned you might wanna take a gander at…
Kanger Protank 3 Dual Coil Head Assembly - Whole Unit or Parts - Lightning Vapes
These appear to be raw un-sleeved assemblies perfect for rebuilding. I've tested out recent whole and component KPT2 as well as M3Ts assemblies and they are of
very good quality.
Likewise, the grommets. I use both the
silicone and rubber (the latter actually silicone, greater hardness).
I've got a good supply of the silicone which is firmer than the Kanger factory and slightly less slippery. It is a rather flexible silicone nonetheless. For those that prefer it this would be what you want. I use it with their separate pins. You'll have to inquire and persuade Sean to stock 'em. They are of excellent uniformly and slightly off-spec from the Kanger's to the high side dimensionally. These are the pins that will improve termination for the standard Kanger's you may have as well as LV's own grommets. But they are essential to use with silli-caca grommets, you know the silly putty variety. A quick check of pins you may already own should reveal a significant differences. And yes, that does affect your build result…in a bunch of ways.
I've got a few
types of higher firmness (rubber) grommets from LV. The material has improved since they were introduced and there's no question the sourcing/material has changed to the better. We are now in the zone of proper termination with a density equal to or superior to most grommet supplies I've encountered. LV's present rubber density is
ideal, I repeat ideal. Any firmer and grommet set starts to become a tad too fiddly. However, the off spec pins which I hope he'll continue to stock can help up the termination friction for thicker gauges…!!!
All I can say is Sean's real people and doin' his darn best to up the game for us. He's put us into some serious toys here. So if you're determined to rebuild effectively, LV's lookin' like a necessary pit stop on that electron highway.
No sense having the best in materials if the build cannot be optimized to take advantage of that performance potential. And you guys are demonstrating right here just how effectively that can be done.
So have at it crew and good luck.
Good luck.
