I started out on a Joye 510 and even dripped with that little joker about 4 years ago. Had clearos existed I likely wouldn't have ever dripped but you work with what you have...well if they existed I didn't see them for sale.

You could always try one of these (aerotank dripper):

Been surfing on lightening vapes and took a look at the PT3 coil assembly design. It incorporates a taller top cap (chimney seal) than the the PT2.
Looks to me like that top cap could be used on PT2s to elliminate the need for flavor wicks or wick tuck when using coils smaller than 2mm.
Might be a great candidate for using nextel slim in 070 (1.8mm) coils without a flavor wick!

Gotta try that for sure.

OK, verified this works. The taller seal from a GDC I have forms a. 073x.073 square opening at the wick slot. Worked perfect for a. 070 id coil wicked with kgd and perfect for the same coil wicked with nextel slim. No flavor wick needed for either.
The PT3 seal and the GDC seal appear to be same height but I don't have a PT3 to verify.

I'm sure one of you do though. :D

Currently vaping : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Shadow (NET ) on a kpt2 with aerotank base 29awg 2.0 mm t.m.c 10/9, KGD cotton at 2.0 ohms, 9.5 watts. Can't say I have had a better vape ever! Happy :)

My kay/tai clones are officially out of commission until I go down to 6 mg nicotine in 2015 !

Nah, can't say I particularly enjoy coughing and throat irritation !

Funny that you say that, because that's exactly what I experienced with cotton the first couple of weeks. Very similar to the dry, harsh and burning I encounter with PG. I had almost given up the idea. It was the least benign wicking option I had previously tried testing on the Protank.

What I did was taper off markedly and weaned myself back slowly. I had made two prior attempts with small drippers and those were a failure off the bat. The third time was the charm when I rather quickly and rather intuitively trusted those instincts to find the right density. It was my prior experiences with the Protank that got me in the right direction to realize I had been over-wicking trying to ensure consistent contact in the PT. Can't do that as we all know. Cotton shrivels, shrinks and ultimately droops. No way you can over-compensate for that.

However maz since acquiring the taste for it, as I can't cancel out the flavor of it, I've found different nuances in my favorite juices with it. So it's been rewarding in its own way.

I've had a love hate relationship with the Protank which has grown into a fondness for it's design and possibilities. The potential to realize some rather impressive approximations of a real tobacco experience. And since seriously permitting myself the pleasure of a t.m.c. exclusively for personal use I've started to enjoy nbacco fruit and other non-tobacco options for the first time. And these work marvelously with a cool vape in a good tight small tank.

I'm certainly no advocate of any one direction of solution even as it may sound that way at times. Rather, perfect what pleases you most. I'm just not sure I know what that is for me. And increasingly it's become...I love it all.

Good luck.

:)

It's fuggly as hell but I'd bet LW's right on this one.

Going to be giving my hand at this here very soon. Have 100ft of 28awg in transit right now. I've been reading a.d watching everything I can find. Going to 've doing my pt2s and ny nautilus. Was going to be doing microcoils and cotton wicks. I feel like I have a good grasp on how to do it all from coiling to first vape. Any tips are always welcome tho for what I'm using. Thanks guys

Welcome. Don't forget to post pictures. The internet is a visual medium. The nautilus will be interesting counter-point to the KPT.

Tip: Your 28 AWG, a pin vise and a Dremel bit kit will have you making professional electrically perfect coils faster than most of the experts on youtube in a matter of seconds.

Your vaping friends will revere you when you, the expert, show them how to do it. And you started vaping when?

Good luck weener.

Started vaping a few years ago but it's only been the past 8 months or so going more hardcore. Figured I've wasted enough on protank attys might as well do my own. Was getting tired of praying that my 5 pack wouldn't have any duds just for them to burn out in 4 days

I am not very good in articulating why exactly i prefer a particular vape over another. It just has to feel right !

I am sure a variety of factors are involved : flavor, quantity of vapor, draw, throat feel, vapor density etc ... I am not even sure which of the factors are more important to me. I am pretty sure, though, that vapor quantity is the least important, as long as there is some.

If i were to experiment with different variables while keeping others constant, i would be able to figure out which particular factor is affected by what. In the meantime i am happy to settle for a pretty darned good vape !

I am interested too because I can't fit a 5/64 into the groove. Was experimenting today, tossed several coils but it was a learning session more than I need to rebuild this. So can they fit? Btw, no pics but 2 of my Evods have nice 30g, 7/8 wrap 1.8 to 2.0 micro coils wicked with kai gen do.

pardon the typos, on my phone :)

So got my wire. Picked up some 5/64 bits for the nautilus tank. Getting 1.3 1.5 ohms on those coils. Getting some gurgling tho.
For the protanks can I use the 5/64 bits for the protank coils?

Good job on that wind w. You as well c, and good point on the 5/64 being too big.

The slot's about 1.8mm for the KPT. The true evod assembly I believe is slotted 5/64. Some Protank coils will just about take the 5/64 bit. The Protank now with the aero base likes more wick. And with Nextel and KGD you can give them power with the latter having the flow directionality to be able to handle it without prematurely scorching. Don't think we know enough yet to make the call on pigment accumulation (gunking) with KGD.

You want to look for a .07" (1.778mm) drill blank on ebay along with a good pin vise. Search on this thread for references. Less than 10$ and you will have the exact kit to fill the slot.

There was an earlier post recently by cigatron that talked about grommets to fill in the new dual-coil assemblies so you can run a single coil. That's great because the slot for the d/c assembly I believe is 5/64.

Doing all this from memory tonite. Don't have time to go through notes or bookmarks.

Good luck all and don't everybody chime in at the same time.

:)

I am actually on the lookout for a good pin vise and dremel bit set. Right now i use a hodge podge of various screwdrivers, some in metric and some in imperial denominations. They don't all have a nice grip on the handle to make coiling easier. If anyone knows of a decent source to get these as a set, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind paying a little extra for drill sizes i don't need, as long as the ones i need are also included.

I saw a set that comes with a pin vise and drill bits, # 61-80. If i could find one that comes with # 41-60, i would gladly purchase even though i would only use three or four of them.

.07 inch is # 50 btw, clinire and weener.

edit : this is the most relevant i have found so far. Metric, but the two largest bits are close to being useful in pt assembly :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Micro-...005&prg=9723&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=400671679898&rt=nc

picture not representative of actual bits included. scroll down to the bottom of the page.
