My protank committed suicide on Sunday. VAMO fell off the kitchen counter and landed protank down on the tile floor. It didn't survive. Tank shattered into about a zillion pieces.

Sent from my recliner, using my arthritic thumbs.

While fixing dinner the other night, one started a roll off the kitchen counter. It was like a slow-motion thing with me running across the kitchen "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I caught it in time.

The only complaint I have come across with the Protank is how easily the threaded contacts break off the base if you drop your mod. I am glad I had an extra protank around. Trying to find someone who has replacement bases in stock is proving to be challenging.

These guys are making their own bases for there tatroe tank. They say it will be much stronger than the original protank base. Of course it will come with a higher price tag and it is not quite for sale yet, but I figured I would throw it out there...: Tatroe tank bottom cap

I might have to try those. I'm ok with the airy draw, but the lifetime warranty on these is attractive.

Its a keeper and i even have to use teflon plumbing tape to stifle the draw and also vaping a juice now needs a long long draw to achieve throat hit and its up to it. I read on here they are coing out with a mini

ProTip: Should you happen to lose the o-ring for the base of the tank, Teflon tape works there too, speaking from personal experience.

WOW, kinda pricey. That's more than I paid for the whole ProTank kit (minus the case). I've dropped mine a couple of times but I think it was the ring that saved me from snapping off the threads.
I have had zero issues with the Protank as far as burning taste or dry hits. It's been very consistent for me. It does seem to be a juice hog though. I'm using like twice as much juice as when I was using kanger clearos (T2 or T3). Still I have to say I love the tank. Waiting for wick and wire to arrive so I can rebuild a few of them. I'm hoping that might help with the juice hogdum.

I dont understand the whole rebuilding part yet as i just got into using tanks and PVs only a few weeks ago, still getting my feet wet. But ive noticed since i lowered my resistance (switched from 2.5Ω coils to 1.8Ω coils which was just yesterday now) my tanks started eating up way more juice than they did with the lower resistance heads, same wick and all, just much much much more vapor. Could be vaping it at a higher wattage (when you do the math it would work out that way [P=(V^2)/R iirc]. Batteries are also not lasting as long as they did with the higher resistance heads for the same reason, different equation, making assumptions as to the actual numbers since this is a fixed voltage device and im waiting on my VAMO to get here. But yeah, its using more juice and battery, but im getting LOADS more vapor production since I switched to a lower resistance head on my PV. Sorry for the rant, hope it all makes sense. Had little party and a few drinks, so, it makes sense to me at the moment, lol.

The biggest suggestion I can make with the protank (IMO of course) is this: Those little condom ends that come with the spare heads - I like to fill it about 1/3 up with the juice I'll be filling the tank with and sloooooowly push the head down into it making sure juice comes out of the top of the shaft. (This sounds weird). Let it sit a moment while I'm getting the tank ready, then carefully take it out, wipe the juice from the connector and install it. That way it's 'primed' for the first drag from the new tank. Even on a 2.2ohm head I find anything over 3.8v to get too burny.

I've had nothing but problems with my Protank 1 and 2. It doesn't matter what ohm head I use, whether the heads are prebuilt or if I rebuild them myself, what coil I use, what wick I use, you name it I've tried it. It still tastes like I'm vaping motor oil.

Meanwhile, the same heads in the EVOD work great. Needless to say, the EVOD is my clearo of choice right now... until tomorrow when my Smoktech ARO comes in. Some users have called the ARO the "EVOD/Protank killer." I'm curious to see if that's my opinion too.

I wish I were there to help. I've been using them forever and have no problems, even running Boba's through them I don't get burnt drags. I have, however, gotten bad heads before that we just hideous. There's definitely room for improvement on their quality control. Maybe round up all those sweaty assembly line pre-teens in a room and tell them there'll be no more candy at the end of their 20 hour shift if QC doesn't improve. Not a fan of Chinese sweat shops for all these reasons, but it's all we've got right now.

Even if my Protank can somehow be doctored into a semi workable state, it's already proven itself to me to be something I cannot use nor recommend. Meanwhile, my Smoktech ARO has literally been problem free and works as good/better than the EVOD (which I would rate to be better than the Protank anyway). If I'm going to use a clearomizer, I want it to be convenient. I don't want endless tinkering and fiddling in something like this. :(

Try www.sun-vapers.com they have bottom bases for sale...

They are my go to place for all things Kanger...

PT does rock, it's solid, the vapor production is good, I love airy draws, when rebuilt with cotton, it hits like a train...

I dropped mine onto my hard clay-tiled floor, it survived, miraculously, the fall was about four foot...
