Hey MPet ... So sorry to here about your dog :( Joanna and I are huge animal lovers, and I would hate to see any one of our furbabies in that situation!

Not entirely sure if you are talking about your Prodigy or Protege? First question was in regards to the V1, the 2nd was the Protege. Anything still under warranty will be 100% taken care of, so you don't need to worry :)

Sorry, my bad!

I only have the Protege V1, shipped Oct09

So, the mechanical switch is not longer available for purchase?

Meh I did all the work on my Prodigy V2 to make the switch it currently has work like a charm (using the O-ring and scoring the connections)

Unless there is actual metal working to be done to make the switch sit in the old chassis?

correct ... BUT ... the user may need to send in their V1 for me to mate it properly so we don't have issues like we did before :)

Hey Mpet! It will be available :) The newest Stainless Steel version will be the one. I would REALLY prefer to have the device in hand when mating it with a new mechanical switch. That is ... If you have a backup device you can use for 5-7 days. If not, then once available, we can certainly try sending you one hoping you have no issues :)

V1 or V2?............

When the switch is released for the Prodigy V2 (what will come standard on the V2.1) We will likely NOT need those. Prodigy V2 was designed for it ... Prodigy V1 was not, therefore, the step within the Protege V1 can play havoc on it ;)

Prodigy V2 tubes we won't need back, just Protege V1's.

I just ordered my v1.1

Congrats anim8r ... Hope you enjoy it! :)

The main problem with Mechanical Switches in Protege is a small burr sitting on the inside of the tube. I need the actual unit to make it work perfectly :) Same reason why 99% of Protege's shipping now with mechanical switches don't have issues. Because we were able to put properly *mate* each switch with each tube.

The Protege was never originally made to work with mechanical switches, it was an afterthought. Therefore, we tried the best we could :)

If you want to send both of your Protege's in with your mechanical switches, I would be happy to take care of both of them for you :) Align properly, upgrade to orings, and get them back to you in tip top shape!

Awwww...Steve, you're a jewel, I tell ya!!! Actually, I just have my one Protege and 2 mech switches...I'll be glad to send them in to ya since I can't use it the way it is. Do I need to open a ticket with Casey?

Not yet Harpo ...

Many of the changes we have made to the V1.1 Protege we have already done to the V2 Prodigy. With that said, the next production runs on the V2 (or V2.1) will start taking place within the next couple of weeks. At which time, We will also have the new stainless switches available.
OMG, I can't wait! Can the V2 get any sexier?!?!? I assume we will be able to buy just the switch itself?

One question...

On the current protege's, the 510 attys don't sit flush with the adapter when screwed in... is this corrected in the new protege version?

It's meant to be that way. Notice how shallow the notches are in the 510 adapter? It wasn't designed to sit flush. The V2 is the same way it's just harder to see it. I personally like the design. It makes for a more consistent draw from atty to atty.
