Just got the XPV and my initial impression can be summed up with “Wow!” Very nicely made. The case machining is great and the overall feel is wonderful. Love the button – clicky but easy to press. The pocket clip is some type of plastic material but feels very stout. I was unsure about whether I would like that, but am glad I went for it – it does not get in the way and will be handy to have when out and about.
Love the form factor – perfect for in the car. Although there are 4 exposed screws on each end, it stands up solidly without any wobble.
The top screws, however, can be a problem with toppers that are wider than 21mm. The Russian 91% (which I think is 21mm) just grazes the edges of the 4 exposed top screws. Something wider will sit on top of the screws, potentially making it difficult to get a good 510 connection unless it has an adjustable post. The connector pin on the XPV is not adjustable.
It came nicely packaged along with a charging cable, a shorty 510 extension, a 510/ego connector, a brief manual and a card with the serial number of the device (I’m #66).
The manual states that the battery is connected with a push connector which are available from Protovapor when it comes time to replace the battery. It also states that they will replace the battery for free if you buy the battery from them (but you have to pay for postage).
Warranty is 90 days for materials, 1 year for the DNA20 components.
The dial approach for changing wattage works well and is easy to use. I do wish that the screen was on the same side as the button, but it's not a big deal.
No pics since my camera battery is dead at the moment – will post some later.
Well worth the price paid – very pleased.
