Provari - initial thoughts vs Ego

So, after many years of vaping I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a provari. Some things immediately hit me, and I'd like to share them.

First, cost. It inevitably has to play a role. $200 vs $30. That said, I've had several egos go out, rather quickly I might add. So, with a 1 year warranty and the ability to get it serviced, I consider this category a push..

Provari 0 - Ego 0

Second, after years of vaping menthol I bought some RY4 a couple weeks ago. I hated it. It didn't give enough throat hit, though I liked the flavor. I use evods with the 1.8 coil and the menthol hits like a champ. That said, I tossed the menthol on the provari and initially wasn't blown away. I thought it probably needed a new coil, but I didn't have any with me. So I tossed on my RY4 EVOD and hit it; it was lackluster. I decided to try cranking up the volts and see if it would make a difference. I went from the stock 4.0 to 5.6 and hit it again... heaven. It was like the juice had been transformed. Flavor, vapor, throat hit... amazing. I now find it difficult to try the menthol again, because I'm enjoying the RY4 so much. It makes me wonder what other flavors I might like now.

Provari 1 - Ego 0.

Third, Quality: This thing "could double as a billy club", as my brother put it. It's a rock. Heavy, sturdy, and while I have no desire to drop it, it feels like it could handle a few. Egos feel cheap and flimsy in comparison. While the added weight could be a detractor when on the go, I only think I'll mind it at work (where I have to "hide" it as I work in a hospital). That said, this is an easy win for the provari.

Provari 2 - Ego 0

Fourth, Batteries and battery life: Woah, what a concept for me. Changing batteries in lieu of changing pvs? I like it. Having to have multiple PVs so that you have "back-ups" when one needs charged can get expensive (especially when you chain vape, like me, 8-10ml a day). This is such a breath of fresh air for me, that I think it puts catergory 1 as a win for provari as well.

So, Provari 4 - Ego 0

Packaging.. yeah right, I don't care. It came well-packaged and was never in danger. The egos came with a box, that killed trees, and took up space in my trash can. I'm going to give a nod to provari on this simply due to not having to waste materials on something that's worthless.

Provari 5 - Ego 0

In the end, the ego doesn't compare, even a little, to the provari. It's a different ballgame now. I'm very pleased with this machine, and happy to have made the purchase. Might buy a mini for work days, as it would be easier to conceal. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. To anyone on the fence, get off of it. It's the best purchase I've made since I started vaping 3 years ago, and had I bought it at the start (even then I kicked around the idea), it would've saved me hundreds of dollars that I spent on junk that broke and didn't work nearly as well. Thanks to provape for their excellent product, and thanks to ECF for making this the most recommended PV on the forums.

It can't be all good, however, as I do have one slight complaint: the charger. When plugged in it makes a electrical static/squealing noise that is quite bothersome (not very loud, but obvious a couple feet away). I wonder if everyone has this issue, or if it's isolated to mine? Some feedback would be appreciated.

Same opinion. I compared it against 10 other mods I had and the Provari blew all away.

IMO, a more apples-to-apples comparison would be a Vamo to a Provari... Though I've never owned, or even handled, a Provari (just way out of my price league) I've got 4 Vamos (one each for self and loving Spouse (though she says not so loving for much longer unless I can soon rein in my vaping hobby) plus a back-up each) and I've found the Vamos to all be rock-solid in every respect you've given points to the Provari vs the eGo... Just saying... ;)

I'm just so happy to see someone else knows the definition of chain vape. I have to LOL every time I see someone post that they "chain vape, like one ml a day!!" Geez, I vape that much before breakfast.

I, too wish I had got a Provari earlier. If I had, I wouldn't be fighting the battle of the dead batteries with one worn out ego and 3 volts while waiting for it after I snapped a wire on my mod. I have thought about it many times over the last year or so, but never pulled the trigger until yesterday.

And the comparison is relevant to anyone who uses an ego and is considering a Provari. Just cause you know there is no comparison, doesn't mean they do.

awesome pic - by any chance can you tell me where you got the 2 tanks on the far right? (lavatube/ zmax) they both look really cool

The one on the right is a Vivi Nova with a colored tube. Don't know where that one was purchased, but they are available at GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more It looks like a full size, but could be a mini.

The other is a CE-something (3, 4, ???) type clearo. These are also available at gotvapes.

Thank you for understanding my point. I wasn't trying to give a "apples to apples" comparison (I've never had any vv, mod style pv, so I couldn't do one regardless). I was giving a "is it worth spending $200 to upgrade from an ego style battery" comparison. I would've found this post helpful while trying to decide if I should buy a provari. I was giving an honest appraisal of what I came from to the provari, and my elation about the choice to step up. Take it for what it's worth. It'll be my last "comparison" style review, as I have no desire to buy anything except a provari now.

Yes it is worth it!

The eGo does not compare! They are different devices as well.

is it really relevant to even compare an ego to a provari?

i don't think the ego is ever going to win in comparison lol.

Agreed . . . A better comparison would have been an ego-c twist vs. a vision spinner.

As I have 2 provari minis, I would be remiss not to add . . .

I definitely hold high praise for the provari. Having noted that, I also have a Zmax V3 Telescoping Flat Top, which I purchased at the same time that I had purchased my second provari mini. Does the Zmax do everything which the provari does? Absolutely, and much more, I might add. Do my 2 - $175.00 ProVaris (?) perform $115.00 better than my $60.00 Zmax? This newbie vaper cannot tell the difference.
Then, I ask myself, why would any intelligent person on God's green earth pay such a price for a ProVari? If one cannot answer that question, he/she need not waste time pondering that query. Please, save the mental gymnastics and purchase a Zmax or similar and enjoy vaping.

Personally, the Zmax's fit, finish, and build quality pale tremendously, as compared to the ProVari. One would be hard pressed to challenge that statement. ProVape affords its customer stellar CS, which in my experience, is second to none . . . And for that, I am more than pleased to pay the extra premium to own a ProVari. It's a simple equation, which may or may not suit everyone.

I too have a ZMax Telescope and 2 ProVari Minis and the Sigelei I must say is almost as good as the proVari. It vapes the same, is durable enough and half the price.

Would you buy a Rolls Royce if you could afford it? Or would you rather stick with the much cheaper Yugo?
They both get you there, but the ride and comfort is not comparable. Plus, who's gonna watch you drive by if you're sitting in a Yugo?

Hold on while I take a hit of Boba's on my Reo. Whoa, now for one with the Provari using a dripping atty.
