You could do that on a drill press too if you don't have a carto punch...just gently punching two of the holes to make them larger....I would try the first fix though, seems easier.
Also, if the wick is already burnt, you are still going to taste it...so I would try it on a new head.

I know there were a few people with nickle sensitivity/allergy on the beta team that didn't have any problems, but you never know. Let us know how it goes.
I didn't wash the nickel...maybe it was something on the wire....gonna rebuild tomorrow and soak it in alcohol this time first..Then try again....waiting to get approved for the Facebook group.

+1. Since I wasn't going to dry burn or torch my coils, I just wiped down the wires with an alcohol swab in case there was any manufacturing residue left.

And as others have said, that's a good time to vape through the e-liquids you don't really like!
I drink a lot of water and rarely get VT.
Sometimes, especially at night, I vape a lot and forget to hydrate.
My throat gets raw and my juices taste less excellent until I hit the ice water and SHAZAM! All better.

I like to relax in my vape room with a bowl of fresh fruit salad... Never had vapers tongue, though...
I find it almost necessary to vape at least some straight lemon e-liquid pretty much every day. When I do, no problems at all with vaper's tongue.
And I like the taste.
