Dripper here as of 10 minutes ago... woot! I am not the first to get an iatty on their Vari but i was sweatin it out putting the the coil together.
Got a 2.8 Ohm coil and vaping at 4.4v right now... a little airy but great taste!!!
I hear theres an o ring fix for that if you don't like airy... like a Canon Iken 801 ... lots of vapor.
so far so good.

Genesis attys on the way.
sounds great! Tell me, how is the throat hit on the iatty? I have to have nice th or I don't care how good I tastes... I won't use it...

I have never cared about TH, just flavor and lots of vapor... But lately I just started upping the nic level as i want a buzz you know?

The TH is not great on the iatty imo... but if you have imeo's PV (which i saw your new beauty!)... i would think that a tighter draw and lower resistance on the iatty would fix that... at least as far as i know about achieving TH.

at this point i'm not sure what lowering my voltage or raising it will achieve but i guess i intend to find out.

also, from my experience with iatty so far, it will get hot... doesn't affect the flavor though.

with the iatty coil at 2.8 Ohm and the Vari at 5.5v i am getting a more satisfying vape than i have ever gotten on any conventional atty... i think the key is that the iatty can take higher voltage without altering the taste and boosts the vapor production.

is it a world beater ? hmmm ... maybe for some... my favorite atty (dse 901 2.8 Ohm) at 4.0 to 4.5v is darn hard to beat imo... and this iatty is a step up... not to mention that you can keep rebuilding the coil/wick for pretty much endless use.

2.7-2.8 ohm with 5.5 V on Provari is giving me a satisfying vape, but with a normal cart the flavour is less. The same as Chief-a-lot; not enough throathit means for me bad vaping, even if the flavour is great.

As Uke I have now an iAtty and have planned to use it on my ProVari. I like the idea of repairable attie’s with customized resistance. Don’t care if it’s more hassle and takes a learning curve. No, I am only looking at it now, not using it still. Maybe I am starting this week, but one thing is every time holding me off; the wicks. I am paranoid about inhaling the particles coming from these wicks; that is one of the reasons why I am no fan of CE-2’s; they have a loooooooong wick hanging in the juice. There is a lot going on with testing of several wicks and I follow developments. Is it better to go the way of the Bulli A2-T, with top feeding out of an ego tank and a small wick peace, or wick with ss mesh. I have no answers yet…questions, questions, questions to find out coming time.

Ricks, as far as I know (I am not an expert on this matter): every wick/fabric gives particles. They are very tiny parts of the fabric that falls of. Fiberglass as they break, or when cutting, form very tiny fragments that no longer have the properties of a fiber and become particles. With some wicks you see the spreading of lager particles/dust with the eyes when handling the wick in the sunlight. The larger particles are not to worry, they can not come deep in yr lungs. Your respiratory system takes care of it in the upper part. The very thin particles, the ones you can not see with the eye, can deep penetrate in the lungs. This wil not be a problem depending on the material of the wick and chemicals used to prepare and store/transport the wick.

-1 for fabric and +1 for wire mesh...

I am having a bit of an issue when it comes to reporting battery power left and atty ohms. For instance, I have a carto that I know is over 3.2 ohms, but when I put it on the provari first it say 1.5, then shoots up to 2.3 then 2.8. I am having the same issue with showing battery power. A while ago someone said they would send me new springs but then i never heard anything else, and I can't even find the PM to contact them. I tried cleaning the spring in there and my 18650 extended cap that I use but nothing seems to fix it. The provari is only about 2mo old

So.. Any input on what conditions will trigger an E8 error code? The better I understand this device, the better I can utilize it :)

Several things can trigger it- more often than not, when the battery is low or nearing end of charge and can't recover fast enough for the next drag, or if your battery is old/tired and has built up internal resistance. I've also seen it when the atty drops below 1.5 ohms... if you keep getting it and know your atty is good and your battery is in good condition, contact provape.

ADD: your Boost DC-DC converter is a buck/boost regulator- What I suspect is going (assuming the unit isn't damaged) is that a combination of internal impedance of the battery and spring combined with the current you need when the device calls for a certain amount of boost are throwing things off or exceeding some threshold and the circuit just doesn't like it.... Its not a thermal overload, and not exceeding the output current limits, but exceeding the circuits ability to provide the boost you're calling for given the input characteristics....

RE the resistance, Only one carto or do you always see this? It could be just a carto nearing its end of life and that could indeed be the resistance as the coil heats up a bit.... did you put the carto on a meter to check it against what the ProVari says?

Re both the carto and the battery charge, approximately what is the charge in the battery when you see this? Do you see it always or only when you're at/below 3.6V?

The spring may help-but it could be a combination of things going on. do your run your battery down till the unit stops or do you normally recharge when you see the LED flashing- if you regularly run the battery down till the unit stops you are stressing your battery causing it to basically clog up, and that may be contributing to some of the issues you see.

FWIW- I see this from time to time- even with the new springs. One of the juices I use is really hard on attys - it contains alot of lime flavoring and sour flavoring both which have alot of acid ....the readings are correct- it's what the ProVari sees when the atty has a load on it. With that juice, I see the readings change as much as 3/4 of an ohm based on how wet the wick is and as the atty heats up... As a suggestion, I'd try comparing to a new/unused carto....

I also did some testing with the new spring vs the old spring vs new batteries vs stressed batteries (stressed meaning I regularly ran them down till the ProVari stopped) - the spring helped alot, using a new/unstressed battery helped, using a new battery and the new spring was the best combination.

You can get the new springs on Provape.com, and I highly recommend the new 2500mAh batteries over the IMRs while you're at it...

You couldn't have looked that hard to contact them there's a "contact us" link on the left pannel of every page of thier website menu... If you keep experiencing problems you can pm monsterkenny or provape or submit an inquiry on thier website Contact Us or send email to info@provape.com ....

I have very often gotten the same Ao reading thing... says 1.5 - 3.2, for a 3.0 Ohm atty. For some reason i figured, well it's hitting the resistance (3.2)...

1. I have an older Vari which doesn't show the early blinking for battery low.
2. usually it seems to happen (very often) when the atty is mid way through its use cycle.
because it seemed to be showing the accurate resistance, i just let it go.

If you want to know for sure, do what jimho says; compare with a DMM.

I wonder when they started pputting the new spring in the newer units? It's a must have.

I have never seen the ProVari give an incorrect reading on the atty resistance- I stopped checking frequently a long time ago, but when I did my testing way back when, it was in agreement with my meter and occasionally when I have a hard time believing the ProVari I do check and always find it to be within .1 Ohms. You should not let the fact that it starts at 1.5 and then goes up bother you- think of it as a bouncing needle - its normal behavior for ohm meters -.

i have an iatty on mine occassionally and the closest thing i can compare it to is that Iken Cannon... I have a 2.5 canon.
the plus side: voluminous vapor on both
down side: very airy on both and i can't like the 801 mouth tip... wide

You may want to look into an 801-510 tip adapter- it'll probably restrict the draw a bit and offer a smaller tip.
