I just got a used Provari from the classies. It came with 2 Ultrafire BCR 18650 batteries. Fullt charged the batts read 4.2 volts.

I put one in and button flashes twice. I can access the menu and adjust everything and read ohms of caertos, but it will not fire at all. I have tried several known good cartos and atties and nothing will fire. I also checked the 510 connection on the device with my meter while pushing the button and their is no voltage reading.

I know that the best battery to use is AW IMR 18650 but I don't have any yet. I was hoping it would work with the batteries the seller included but I don't know now.

Could this behavior be happening because of the batteries not being compatible?

Thank you,

also I would email provape. They are a great vendor to deal with, tho they will probably have you send it in to them, they are great to deal with... in my personal experiences w/them. info@provape.com

Yes I have sent an email to them just waiting for a reply.

I appreciate your suggestions. I have a couple AW IMR batts coming in a couple days. I'll try those. I am hoping that is possibly the problem.

does the center pin in the 510 look ok? not off-center or crooked?

No the center connector looks perfect. I thought that maybe the center post on the cartos was not reaching the connnector pin but I after checking the connnector with my meter and getting no voltage reading I think I can rule that out.

ooof, I dont think the batt is the issue as you read them at full voltage, and you get the full menu, sounds to me as it shorted out somehow...

I am stumped too at this point. Cecelia at Provape replied back and said it definitely could be the batteries that are the issue. I guess I will not know for sure until my AW IMR batts get here in a couple days. If it still acts the same then I guess I will have to send it in for repairs.

No I checked the center pin on the 510 connection. When depressing the button there is no output voltage at all. I checked it with a meter.

Although the device powers up with the Ultrafire battery and you can access the menu, but it will not fire. Sometimes while pressing the button or checking resistance on a carto the power will cut off completely and you have to remove the battery. Then put it back in and it may takes several tries before it will power up again.

This is why I am thinking it may be battery related. At least I hope it is. I have AW IMR batteries coming in the mail today. I will try them this evening and report back. If it does not work with the AW IMR batteries then I will have to inquire to Provapes and see how much it costs to send it in for repair.

I recently had some problems getting my Provari to fire, and was on the brink of sending it in. I saw a suggestion to pour about a shot-glass of Isopropyl alcohol inside the tube, swish it around a bit, dump it out, and leave it overnight to dry. That did the trick. Some juice had (obviously) found it's way inside. I was just glad to have it working again, and I didn't have to send it in for repairs. Might be worth a shot. :)

IMO I definitely wouldn't pour any type of liquid into the tube. Even though the alcohol would most likely dry up overnight, there's still a chance that it would cause irreversible damage to the electronics and/or short it

I am assuming it's the batteries. I had the same issue on my mini when I had some 18350 li-ons and had the same symptoms as you. Immediately took the li-on battery out and put a AW IMR in, problem gone.

I have already done the alcohol cleaning which was suggested by Provape. It did not make any difference. Got my AW IMR batteries and tried those. Still same problem. Provape says it is definitely not the batteries. They say it is a the board that is bad. They requested I send it to them for repairs.

I shipped it off to them this morning and should have it back in a week or so.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

i know this might sound stupid but was it powered on?
did the led light up when button was pushed?

Yes it powered on and button would light up every time. Was able to go through all menu settings and also check ohms too.

It should arrive at Provape on Monday. Hopefully they will take pity on me and do a rush job it.

I don't suppose anyone has a spare they want to let me use while I'm waiting?

A while back I couldn't get mine to fire. It would go through the menu but wouldn't fire. I started to panic but figured out it was powered off LOL. I turned it on and it worked fine. Same thing happened with my vv madvapes box.. it wouldn't fire. Thought it had finally died. Then I figured out that somehow I had the voltage knob turned all the way down! Turned it back up and it worked fine :D

I don't think that was the problem, unless I am misunderstanding the menu. You go through the menu until you get to the setting "Po" then wait 2 seconds and make sure it is set to "ON". Isn't that correct?
