I'm not new to vaping, though I am relatively new to the ECF. Been vaping for over a year now, but never wanted to hassle my way through the forums. I suppose there's a time for everything. So here I am!

I have been wanting a variable voltage mod for a while now. Just set my sights on the provari from provape.com. Was curious if anyone had any device on other vari-volt options out there. I'm aware of the Darwin and other, less sophisticated models (such as the ridiculously-sized box mods that include vari-volt). However, I am unaware of any other similar vari-volt devices to the provari (save for Darwin). Any insights?

Just bought a Provari myself a couple of weeks back - chrome finish.

It's very nice, but very expensive as well. So you have to weigh up price versus features/weight. The thing is pretty heavy and large (if you get the extender cap and the 16850 batteries).

I really am happy with mine but constantly worry about dropping it or its electronics malfunctioning. For that price, it is one pretty huge investment. I'd take a look at the buzz pro as an alternative VV device man.

But if you have the money to blow, you'll love the provari, just keep it well-looked after.

Good luck,

Mech

already mentioned, the Provari, Buzz Pro, Darwin, and the Infinity Pro (from notcigs coming out soon) are the main VV tube mods out there. if you like box mods, i know the Monkeyboxx has a VV option.. and if you want to go cheaper price and box style, madvapes Custom Mods and and BoxMods Big Brother V1 have some too

I just ordered a provari, and did a lot of research. They back their product to the fullest, comes with a 1yr and optional 2yr. Look around in the provape section at all the happy customers, if you look at more reviews the provari is basically the reference model. I've seen multiple posts about people dropping them and they were fine with very little scratches on the surface. I want something that is going to last and that is what i got.

I agree with the Darwin, but I kinda like the provari (black chrome finish). It's not as sleek as my trusty old Prodigy v3.1, but I think it's alright. But thanks for the info. Kinda surprised that there isn't more diversity in this category!

My guess why so few; is the cost of the technology due to the simple fact that this is a young evolving industry... mass manufacturers ala eGo etc haven't made the move to this tech ...yet.
btw eGo does have a simple 3 stage variable 3.2, 3.7, 4.3 volt batt now for less than $30.... but ... it's still an eGo ... the above mentioned units are a big step up in quality.

I use a ProVari, have had it since Christmas. I guess I'm better off having a ridiculous sized tube mod than a ridiculous sized box mod. Rather an insensitive statement. I think this is an "Roll yur own" endeavor. Some of the VV Box mods I've seen could be considered pieces of art. No matter what one uses. . .quitting the tobacco cigarettes is the ultimate goal to me. I've read that eGo ePower is working on developing a VV switch for their units. It may be a cheaper answer to VV vaping soon. JMHO

Cheers,

The 2500 mah battery just became available here in Australia. Gonna order one tonight. I've got the 16850's but they don't even last an entire day at 4.9 volt vaping.

With the new provari batteries, they should be able to last at least 1.5 days I reckon. I'll report back here. Btw, I did a review of my chrome Provari with beautiful pics on my blog
