If it ain't squirrels, it's bats. At least squirrels stay out of the house.

Squirrels will go on the roof and work their way in your walls/attic by chewing up the eave where a dormer meets the roof line. Take away their paths to the roof like trees/branches that are close to the house or vines/bushes and other things that go from the ground to the roof. They can still crawl up the side of most any house but it is not as easy to do. Squirrels will generally take the easiest path and if they have to work to get somewhere they will usually avoid it. Bats like going in gable vents...by the dozens. Then they crap everywhere and it's a real mess. Make sure you have real good hefty wire mesh covering all openings to your attic...especially in the gable vents (those triangle shaped vents at the top of gables). Bats are a horrible problem. Not trying to sound like a know it all but I've been there and done that with squirrels and bats.

Tree rats are bad and they can leap quite a distance and seem to have no fear. Our place was essentially deserted for several years out in the woods. We even had a nest of flying squirrels when we moved in but they didn't care for people and moved on quickly. Raccoons...We have them but the herd has been thinned considerably. Tough as nails, persistent destructive but they don't breed like tree rats.

And who did Bundy play for, my memory [like most of me] is failing.
