Ok, a one more concerning IPF and I'll let it go. You all are going to like this one.
In April, the "official" diagnosis was given to Jackie and I by the pulmonologist at Henry Ford Hospital. Once we left the freeway, Jackie requested she drive the rest of the way home (123 miles one way). I was going a little nuts on the freeway with Jackie white knuckling it.
Anyway, I called my Dad to tell him the news:
coldgin96: Well, I got good news and bad news. What do you want to hear first?
Dad: Let's hear the good news first!
coldgin96: I'm going to have the Jeep for the rest of my life...

What is the reason for the larger spring on a P3 ?
Can I use a tatroe stand (smaller spring) on a P3 ?
The battery spring is a high use part that gets exercised often. As it wears out, its performance can degrade to the point where the spring tension is not as strong as it was when it was new. Maybe useful spring life was considered when going to a larger spring? Maybe electrical over engineering in consideration of a device that would output more watts, volts, amps and at a potential subohm resistance lower than any previous ProVape device?

I've used smaller end cap springs on the P3. I don't think I noticed any difference in the vape between the smaller or larger springs on the P3. But I didn't use the smaller springs for a long period and can't say in the big picture grand scheme of things if battery performance or vape quality is different over months and years of use that way.

The biggest issue with swapping springs between ProVari models is to remember to NEVER use a P3 spring on a 2.0 or 2.5 ProVari. The circuit boards in the 2.0 and 2.5 are glued in and the stronger P3 spring has a high likelihood of breaking the glue bond and dislodging the circuit board.

Terry, the larger spring was introduced bacause there were problems with the battery monitoring on some early release P3's, the program was too sensitive and folks were complaining because their battery gauge was all over the place, IQ was always low, even with brand new cells etc. so they re engineered the end cap with the bigger spring for better connectivity to compensate for their over engineered product. LOL

You can use the small springs in a P3 or the Classic, just don't worry about the IQ function, and if your battery light starts flashing early, just unscrew the end cap and re tighten it. I use the small springs often in my P3's and Classics, especially in the mini configuration, it's easier to get the threads to engage with the 18350 cells with the small spring end caps.

True dat. The larger springs are hella tight with 18350's. Interestingly, the Performance End Caps (that shipped with the Procyon) go on the P3 and Classic in 18350 mode, easily and fit pretty good. Should have better connectivity confidence than using a small spring end cap. More weight though. On the other hand, the extra little end cap weight may give better device balance in hand depending on the atomizer used.

Or just do like me and get lots and lots of batteries  it don't hurt em none to charge em early :) plus, I have a lot of those special end caps that have the engraving on them, I think they are pretty cool :D

I've always wished/liked to have had engraving on the Performance End Caps. Well that and maybe some engraving, light knurling or something in all that acreage between the two bands on the Procyon. The Procyon has always looked either unfinished to me, or just leave those two funky engraved bands off and make the whole tube plain maybe.
