here's two vids I like where users have used the guts from ProVari mods to make their own box mods...someday I will do likewise, and I view my many tubes as just raw inventory to be used as needed, If the cells we are familiar with someday go away, I am fully prepared to yank apart my P-thingie tubes and somehow power them with whatever 4.2-4.5 volt power sources that will be available...

So their upgrade was a downgrade, huh?

I was an early adopter and used my P3 all the time for a long while. Then I got the JAC and shelved the P3. Just breaking it out again. My 18350 batts look to be shot. Probably cant find that size either. I bought three of the 18500 Efests. At least one is no good.
I recently got some button top 18350s from Illuminationsupply.com, and some 18500 flat tops as well. Haven't tried either, except to make sure of the size, which fit fine in my Vari's.

Let us know if they work. The three 18500 button tops I got from them appear to be crap.

after reading this I put two of mine on a charge cycle, in the next few days I'll be using them in a P3 and checking the IQ of these two cells, I'll report back with any impressions...

I see rtd vapor has efest 18500’s in flat tops. I’m guessing by the time you add one of those button top gadgets it will be too long for our Provaris.

Looks like I’m close to being relagated to 18650 mode on my Provaris.

It’s a no no but looks like magnets might have to enter the picture.

One of the three I got has no reading in either the charger, my multimeter, or the Provari. It is plain deadski.

Are you saying an 18350 flat top work in the P3 without the button adapter? I like the shorty battery in my P3.

It should, I haven't used the flat tops in the p3 in a long time. The manual says you can use flat top or button top, doesn't specify sizes of one or the other.

I can't check as I don't have any flat top 18350 batts. Are they sold anywhere? I will research that later.

I just found button top 18350 batts on ebay, they are efest and 800 mah instead of 700 like my aw ones. I am thinking those would be ok but I always get nervous using other than the aw ones in the Vari. Reassure me, please and I will order a few.

I've heard nothing but good about efest. That said, the three I just bought from Illumination Supply are junk.

And I just looked and they are LI-MN batteries too. Anyone know anything about the viability of LI-MN batteries in a Provari?

So damn frustrating, huh? :) I'm about ready to shelve my Provaris again and just stick with 18650 devices.

It is frustrating. Just this morning I was remembering all the posts over the years that said don't worry about buying batteries because they are used in other devices. Well, here we are, scrounging for the ones we need. I have been using other mods too but the Vari's seem so much safer and sturdier that I want to get back to those. I certainly don't want a collection of 20 something Vari's sitting on a shelf, unusable.

I am determined to get this figured out. If the adapters work, all should be good as long as the 18350 and 18490 or 18500 ones are available. My concern is they won't be, then it is 18650 only and those might become obsolete eventually as people move on to the bigger batts.
