There's not even an 18650 button top available that can be used in a P2/P2.5 is there?

Geez Louise! What happened to the battery industry? Why all of a sudden are there no viable battery options for Provari P2/P2.5's? What did I miss?

I was caught unawares, also. You can still get button top 18650 but I don't know for how long.

I think these are the correct ones: (there are other places to get them)

    2 x purple EFEST IMR 18650 20A RECHARGEABLE Li-MN Battery 3500mAh BUTTON TOPS 700115351720 | eBay

I trust these as they are the aw ones:

AW 18650 IMR High Drain 2000mAh

It is frustrating. Just this morning I was remembering all the posts over the years that said don't worry about buying batteries because they are used in other devices. Well, here we are, scrounging for the ones we need. I have been using other mods too but the Vari's seem so much safer and sturdier that I want to get back to those. I certainly don't want a collection of 20 something Vari's sitting on a shelf, unusable.

I am determined to get this figured out. If the adapters work, all should be good as long as the 18350 and 18490 or 18500 ones are available. My concern is they won't be, then it is 18650 only and those might become obsolete eventually as people move on to the bigger batts.
You have it pretty bad with all those Varis. I have a P2, P2.5, and a P3 (along with a Radius). Looks like the P2 and P2.5 are shelf ornaments now and the P3 can be used in 18650 mode only. Actually, only the P2.5 was being used by my wife. The P2 and P3 were mothballed but I decided to drag them out and fire them up again. Looks like that was a bad idea. But I feel sorry for all you guys who have these vast collection of older Varis.

AW hasn't made a battery in a long time. Not sure I trust the durability of AW anymore. Even unused ones. But I'm not a battery expert so what do I know?

I just tried the adapters with a LG brown 18650 battery in one of my 2.5's, and they do work. The adapters do make the battery a bit to long though, and I could not tighten up the cap all the way, but they will function. Okay here are the pictures, if that gap bothers you you could put a 0-Ring in there, might be a good idea anyway. :|

@Bronze , I prefer using flat tops in my P3 and Classics, currently running the 350 size Aspire cells, unfortunately they were discontinued.
Also, last night I broke out an unused P3, and popped in the freshly charged Efest 18500 cell, IQ shows 99%... EDIT
Now just checking again, the IQ is jumping between OK and Good, going to run these two cells for a week or so and keep an eye on the readings, we'll see what happens with a few charge-discharge cycles on them.

I was going to post a few pics but my battery is dead in my camera, so maybe later, I will update this post with pics.

Good to know. How did you attach the adapters?

RTD recommended the lg brown button top 18659 for my 2.5, so I ordered those

It’s not that big a deal. I cover my license number though. They’re already getting my name and address for the order. If they can prove that they’re diligent in not selling to minors, it’s to our advantage. One less thing the government can hold over the heads of the vaping community.

Now I suddenly remember how finicky that IQ function is...dropped the second cell in the P3 and got a poor reading, a couple twists of the end cap and extension ring and it bounced up to Great, both cells are showing IQ 85 now.

Regular bottom cap on a Mini also leaves a gap - it is bigger than the gap with your 'stand base'.

( I can actually see threading)

    But they work !!

WARNING to anyone reading this, just always always always make sure you are inserting the battery correctly when using these button top adaptors, I know of at least one case where someone fried a ProVari by inserting a battery backwards, there will be a sizzle and your mod will be dead if you put the cell into it with the wrong polarity...
