Proving that we're not all the same, I'm the complete opposite. On my desk have my PC monitor directly in front of me and to the side of it, a 24" full HD TV connected to my local (Dutch) STB for IPTV and a FreeSat box for the UK satellite group. Between them I have access to umpteen news channels from many different countries around the world. In my PC I have a tuner card with two inputs giving me access to two more satellite channels. Whenever there is an important live event I can have three different news channels for diverse opinions and often with separate video streams. FOMO?.....Moi?

American Idol "went wrong" on Season 1, Episode 1, although to be fair, "Reality TV" went wrong on Season 1 episode 1 of survivor....

I guess there were a few of those "Candid Camera" shows to precede it, but as far as TV realizing that they could cut costs by not paying the "actors" and still totally scripting everything, well, that was Survivor.

I don't mind some of it, like that show "Fear Factor," that was.... It was special, somehow. I think my favorite season was the one with the bull riding in it, I mean a lot of those challenges seemed like actively dangerous, not just gross and frightening but still fairly safe.

I really enjoyed watching what people would try to do for 50K. The other good season was when they had couples on there and they had to "compete as a team" and well, it was really cutthroat.

America's Next Top model was another classic for me, I loved watching Tyra Banks abuse the "models" and insult them and stuff and her wacky band of alphabet sycophants.

I had to stop watching it because my 12 year old said, "Mom, Tyra Banks has charisma!" and I was like, "Son, that's not charisma that's a set of personality disorders and a boob job." I was terrified for awhile I was gonna get a "Tyra Banks" daughter in law, but it turns out he is fairly sane over women, in fact his one true love was like this sweet little fetal alcohol syndrome but not super bad, however at the time had a drinking problem to rival, um, IDK someone with a really bad drinking problem. He tried dating her for a while (my kiddo always goes after the runt of the litter,) and he said he "Just couldn't" anymore. I was like "Aw honey maybe you can hang out with her and be a good influence, she might change...." he replied, "No, Mom you can't hang out with someone like that on any sort of long term basis and not drink with them it's just not doable...."

My kid was wise and like, he was crushed when she got rehomed and got her act together and there was much lamenting because she was with another dude, but well, Colorado is a fresh start. Right now he's dating some chick connected to the X games somehow, so I figure she's hot and adventurous.:headbang::headbang:

I am in no way implying reality TV is "good." It isn't. It's just, there are still plenty of good TV shows, and as for me I enjoy BOTH the good and bad in life, no harm in it. I like to cast a wide net. LOL.

Honestly I don't care if people like different things, good or bad. Another thing that led to me not watching so much was living in a house with 3 males. I never got to pick what we would watch for so long I just bought a Kindle and gave up. I've always kinda preferred reading to watching anyway. But reality tv, no...closest I could say I ever watched any of that was a few seasons of Hell's Kitchen, a guilty pleasure watching someone else get yelled at...but even that gets old after so much.

I can @Bronze ! It's TERRIBLE! It's AWFUL. The judges (apart from Paula Abdul who was hilarity itself) are mean! It's clearly scripted and there may or may not be autotune. A tell all "novel" was published about how tragic it was, and how badly everyone was treated. The voting was 100% FAKE and the only successful "Idols" in music are like the runners up! There are commercials every 3 minutes (like seriously mid song almost) and it's...….

Really everything about it is terrible, but I'm kinda glad I watched. For a while. Not the whole time but there were years it was soothing somehow. LOL.

Almost anything could beat it in standard and quality, but there is this lovely "synergy" that can happen when you are Watching the Worst on TV.

It was like in my first rehab I ran out of reading material. My roommate was this shoplifting woman of domestic abuse. She was really into romance novels, something I had never encountered. I was bored enough to read them, and one contained the sentence, "He was the shooting star in her Milky Way."

I would have gone to rehab AGAIN, potentially, JUST to read that book it was INDELIBLE.

IDK I just get bored with run of the mill sometimes you want something just DREADFUL and etc.

`Whatever you do do not watch Animal Hoarders.... it's really tragic.

Hoarders was.... Yeah. I thought A&E was supposed to be classy.

I used to get mad at Intervention sometimes.. I mean sometimes, they would just LIE like this one drunk was super homeless and he wanted his dog and his family like, promised to give his dog back if he came home for a "meeting" and well it ended with the homeless dude not even GETTING to see his dog, and climbing over the back fence of his family's house, sans dog, to get away. I mean I know it's bad you can't take care of a dog when you are homeless and stuff but to be frank I was rooting for that dude like, 100% of the time up to and including him climbing the fence I mean I was all like, "YEAH MAN! I wouldn't stay around that set of biologically related to you people even ONE second longer than I had to!" LOL.

I am afraid you know what show I would watch and it would probably need to be a special? "Intervention, 10 years later.... Where are they now?"

LOL I had no idea what I started. My dunked radius is doing Just Fine Still by the way. I solemnly pledge to stop discussing reality TV now.

Had nice lil, 34 mile ride today. Wildlife sightings...four deer crossed the path just ahead of me, when each became aware of my approach they leaped and darted off into the underbrush, then I arrived upon a Black Racer snake on the Tarmac, I stopped and admired its glistening obsidian beauty as it slithered off the trail into the grasses and other plants, a living jewel, about six feet long, stunning, a squirrel did that crazy thing where they dart in front of you and then helter skelter dart back and forth not knowing which way to go...missed it by inches with my rock hard 100psi skinny tires.

River is extremely high, had to cross about fourty feet of flooded trail, I used a see saw bump pedal stroke to the crank to power through it and not get my feet soaked.

I wanted to ride a fourty mile course, but realized at mile seventeen that my knees were not happy with me. It was sunny hot and humid, and I was pacing myself to save energy to make the run,so I bailed on the offshoot trail to add the extra miles to hit the fourty mark...maybe someday, but also maybe those six hundred jumps I made while being an active skydiver are taking payment on a long forgotten toll. I really hope to at some point be able to hit fifty miles in one ride... We shall see.

I was never into pop culture. If you quizzed me on the latest and greatest entertainers I would fail miserably. I'll see some news clip about some popular celeb who unexpectedly died or someone who pops off about Trump or something and I'm like. "Who are they?" I'm utterly clueless. I watch news, sports, and my Alaska shows on TV and that's it. Oh, I still like my reruns of MASH and Andy Griffith. :)

I'm not particularly into pop culture at all and calling American Idol "pop" and "culture" is a vile perversion of BOTH terms. LOL.

I don't even get to watch cool shows now that we don't have Cable which is awesome because when everyone starts talking "Game of Thrones" I'm like, "I saw half an episode one time where some sort of reject mutant dude got all het up about falling in love with some ..... and he swore vengeance on this long stream of names, including "The Entire Galaxy?" Is that the show you loved because I turned it off, it seemed Vulgar to my Sensibilities somehow. That show?"

And then they spend like 30 minutes explaining how the midget is their favorite character and like, I get to both "enjoy their enthusiasm" (and I do) and feel superior (and I do) and then I promise I might watch "someday" but I don't say, "After I'm dead," out loud.

Sometimes I can do this multiple times with the same person and if you do it to Enough people you can figure out what is happening without having to watch.

This Space [[[[ ]]]]] for example, could be filled with your: Insert some plot here

Like, right now I am watching "Wentworth" which is a kind of not funny Australian um, darkly comic Dramady on Netflix and it's like "Orange is the New Black" only way worse and like, all tragedy is delivered deadpan Aussie, Like "Alright mate, you just killed the kingpin in here, which resulted in the death of your daughter at the hands of her son, but time to get you off the sedatives cold turkey, and you better get out here now"
"RAHUGHRUTHJUIOLOLK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Look there's no point winging about it, done is done get your .... up."

I mean, the ONLY nice character on the show just overdosed her dying mother. It's fantastic.

Try some Shimano downhill SPD pedals:

PD-M647

It’s a clipless system. there is a little lateral movement, which is much easier on the knees. There is a learning curve, but; I couldn’t ride very far without these things.

The SPD system lets you wear a shoe you can walk in:

SH-MT301

SH-CT500

Here’s a boot:

I have a difficult time with shoes, when I went shopping for riding shoes, out of all the ones they had, I found one shoe that fit me, Shimano road shoes, I wanted the off road shoes with " normal" sole, having a size 14 I guess I'd have to go the special order route. I'm riding with SPD system now, my pedals have the SPD one side and the other is a flat.

A lot of this stuff is still new to me, what's the advantage of the downhill pedals you linked?

I'm wrestling with my nic levels, having started at 18, I went down to 6 and now with my first tentative steps into DIY (excluding shake 'n' vape), I'm confusing myself with settling on a level which gives an all day experience without the dry mouth and throat in the mornings. Please don't say "drink a gallon of water before you go to bed", remember, I'm in my 70's.
I'm curious as to the levels of others.

I started at 18, then went down to 12, 10, 8, and settled in with 6mg/ml, this transition took about six months. Been at the same level now for about four years. Are you thinking you need less or more nic? If DIY'ing, it would be easy to make batches in several different strengths and have different atties and mods set up to vary your nic intake through the day.

Started at 24, down to 18, down to 12, to 6, then 3...back up to 6 cuz 3 didn't cut it for me. Since you're doing DIY, you can always have a higher mix for morning and afternoon, then switch to a lower one for in the afternoon. At night, I always keep a glass of water on the nightstand and take a sip after a trip to the bathroom, and it's also there right when I wake up so even if I am dried out, I can get rehydrated quickly.

I don't think the one sided pedals you are using have any lateral play in the mechanism.
Thanks for the info's, maybe that is an option for me. Current pedals I am pretty locked in.
