I was going to comment on the car picture about one (wo)man's trash is another man's treasure since there was a time in my life when great joy occurred with getting something like that and bringing it back to as-new condition.

But you have outfoxed me with this last shot. Nothing I can say. Nothing.

So did anyone else 'score' one of these in the way back time of Provari's and ECF. An ECF member was making these carbon fiber tubes, lined with felt and selling them to his 'friends' here at ECF.

Not long after he started doing it, he was permanently banned for being an unverified/unregistered supplier. (And all he was doing was trying to help his fellow Provari enthusiasts.) The tubes, end cap and felt lining were sourced from McMaster-Carr. Someplace I have the part #'s stashed away, but I'm not sure I could find 'em it was so long ago.

It sure did wonders to protect the finish on my black chrome P2.5.

Utopia
The Provari 2.5
  • Takes a Licking and Keeps on vaping
  • Built Provape Tough
  • A Provari is Forever
  • The King of Vapes
  • When You Care to vape the Very Best
  • Nothing Vapes Like a Provari
And now the back story to my shameless plugs for the P2.5.

Over 2 years ago I packed up our P2.5 collection as my wife and I were only using our Radii and me occasionally a P3. These are all slant tops with beauty rings.

View attachment 831365

Then recently I picked up my first couple Classics from the Iowa Vapors inventory. That 'inspired' me to take a couple P2.5's out of mothballs.

Uh-oh! I missed removing the battery from the full size black P2.5 and it VENTED while in storage. I don't know how well you can see the discoloration in the vented batt (top) vs: a good one (bottom). It wasn't swelled up just discolored and so was the inside of the Provari.

View attachment 831371

The positive contact and spring were a dark grey color. I replaced the spring and cleaned the positive contact with a electronic scratch bush.

View attachment 831375

Then I put a good battery into it and pressed the power button. Nothing! Took the batt out and reinserted, pressed the power button. Nothing! One more time ... and SUCCESS! The blue LED screen lit up and I was able to navigate the menu. I topped it with an atty, set the volts, and Voila! It's working.

I can't believed I dodged two bullets 1.) potentially burning my house down when the battery vented and 2.) killing a Provari 2.5. I consider myself quite lucky and happy that it's working.

Moral: Please if you have any P2.5s (or even other mods) in storage check that you've removed the batteries,

(and now I'm wondering about the few mods I have in storage with built in batts, could they do the same thing? I don't know).

Yikes, Mikes! You did dodge!

By the way, and forgive my innocence, but what is a scratch bush?

I occasionally check Ebay and sometimes even bid on a Provari.
Found this one tonight from Germany :?:

he was permanently banned for being an unverified/unregistered supplier.

Ya know....that is something that has always bothered me.

All they have to do is contact Misty and either register as a Supplier to sell here ($50.00 a year is a pretty cheap way to run a business) or agree to not discuss their product.

My apology if I got it wrong. He never showed up again and the 'word' around ECF at the time was he was permanently booted. Probably none of us read the rules and realized if'n he wanted to, he could have been re-instated either as a regular member or paid the fee and been a supplier.

No need to apologize !
It's a very common belief.
Someone gets mad and spreads stuff - and everyone believes it :)
After all - everyone knows ECF is only about the money right ?
$50.00 a year - a really big deal huh (probably made back on one sale for most items).

I bet it is something like this, he is a guy just making these in his basement or garage. He just wanted to sell a few of these to a few people on ECF that might like them. Then he gets this warning message, and it really Ticked him off. He was not running a business and did not want to, he said screw it and never came back.

It's a simple requirement to use ECF to make money.

I got to dejavu-ing on those so I went searching
I wonder if all those people ever got the sleeves they paid for.
He had been in the hospital for an infectious disease and people were still waiting for theirs a few weeks after he got home when he got caught.
I would link the thread but it's deleted and you wouldn't be able to see it :(

Oh yeah ... I forgot about that. I think I was one of the last to get one before all that. He might have shown up in 'that other outlaws forum' I'm not sure. But there was talk over there about the sleeve and how to make it as I recall.
