The movie Papillon (1973) is coming on Starz shortly. I am tired of the political ads. I don't think I have watched the whole movie in one sitting, but I always thought it was a classic. I checked IMDB and noticed that Dalton Trumbo was the screenwriter. He was blacklisted by the House Committee on Un-American Activities in the 50s for possible (no proof) of communist activities. He did some writing under assumed names, but what the US House of Representatives forced Hollywood to do was just wrong. Also, it was an early Dustin Hoffman role that was good, along with Steve McQueen and others, like Vic Tayback and Gregory Sierra.

I just finished my exercising at the fitness center. Nice to relax with a good movie.

Also in the news:
William Blinn, the screenwriter behind immensely popular and thought-provoking TV movies such as "Brian's Song" and "Roots," as well as the motion picture "Purple Rain," starring Prince, died at age 83.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Blinn's early TV credits included the 1960's shows “Rawhide,” “Bonanza” and “My Favorite Martian.” He went on to create and produce television shows; among them “Starsky & Hutch,” “The Rookies,” and “Pensacola: Wings of Gold,” in a career that spanned five decades.

I am tired of the darn political TEXTS arriving on my phone way more than daily and they are all addressed to "Justin." Since my AZ DL is dead and buried, I can only assume this was my voting "democrat proxy" all those years like when I was thinking, "Yes, I can stand in line a polling station that sounds fun but I CANNOT for the life of me bear to go wait at the MVD in Tucson (IT is really bad you could lose your soul in there and occasionally, I have come close) just to wave my citizenship paper at them, so I can register. That lasted a few elections. I apologize. I should have done my part.

So I have no idea who "Justin" is but I HATE them.

If I could find him, I would punch him in his virtual "pleasure center."

I mean EVERY day, swipe trash, swipe trash. I tried responding but that seemed to INTESIFY the texts and believe me I Did Not Want That.

Never ever reply to texts from senders who are not known to you.
It's usually a computer broadcasting to the world hoping they hit a real number and person. When you reply they know you are there.

The only thing you can do now is change your phone number, change your name, trash your phone, dye your hair, burn your bra.

I just block them. If a call comes in from a strange number, I call back 10-15 minutes later. If I get a business or computer answer I immediately block. It has been a good while in doing that, but I don't receive many anymore.

Part of this I understand and part of it is a mystery to me.

As for the spam, our resourceful congresspeople made sure when they set up the Do Not Call list that political parties were excluded and can't be stopped from calling. They actually were looking out for us. You know, for voter education.:mad: I'm not feeling all that creative today so I don't feel like playing with the censorbot for the words I would call those people.

The thing I don't understand is the wrong name format. Happens to me, too, and a couple of other people I know have mentioned it. I just can't fathom the marketing geek who decided that was something to do. What you learn in the first 10 minutes of the first day of Psychology 101 is that people's names are important to them. Instead of alienating people, one would think that they'd just avoid personalization altogether if they're going to get it wrong. I think somebody maybe fell asleep just after learning that personalization does make an impression but before the part about getting called the incorrect name being a really negative effect.

Yours Truly, Gooky Greaser

I got one political activist and baited her when I said, "I was trying to sleep" and I was. Eventually she was all, "I am a volunteer I don't have to do this." I told that was correct and she should quit immediately and forever.

She hung up on me? LOL.

When I was a teen, I really liked these bands, mainly these tunes.:|
KAS
I was a just a little before these bands. They were big on the radio, though. I recall, specifically, hearing these in a safe house in Central America. One of the other guys had a cassette "boombox", but he was told to keep it low. I was off to war pretty early. Ronald Reagan was big on little wars. Just about 40 years, now. The world moves on.
