Heh. For me its country. But I now appreciate it a bit.

Don't get me wrong, when Kurt Cobain died I mourned,,,, But it was mainly I was like,, "OH my GOD it's going to be like Christmas music where you never get new stuff and every year you die a little inside."

It kinda was like that for a while. Then, well, the other day I think I heard an Elevator Muzak version of "Smells like Teen Spirit" so we are THERE now.

Another band I have grown fond of recently.

I mean.... The name alone... Panic! at the Disco...

I think they're not exactly un-well known but I have just found them and they are fantastic.

I arrived. Movers tomorrow, internet Tuesday.

Gotta say, I go on the road and you all get pretty chatty (4 pages). And a lot of good music. What ever brings peeps together. I hope those Beatle peeps left a few souvenirs backstage. They have such a great history. Always good seeing them perform.

Am staying in a hotel tonight cause I don't get the apartment until tomorrow (Monday). I think I saw the movers on the highway. Things should be on track. Because it was expensive to professionally move simple items I made a Walmart list. Maybe I will go there tonight or first thing in the AM. Once the movers show up, I will want to have things purchased so that I can stay home and just set up house.

My e-mail said that Amazon delivered a cold-weather coat and a few other items. I came across country wearing shorts, flips, and a t-shirt. I can't dress that way for very long, though.

Life goes on. :)

That is something that I will have to check on everyday.
I don't remember where you are from, but if you didn't get a lot of freezing high-temp days, you may need to change the window juice in your car(s). I like the pink Rain-X the best here in Denver. The blue stuff is OK, but the pink is better. We don't get freezing rain often, but early mornings usually need a good scrape on the windows if your scraper is MIA.

The good news is that even if it does snow, the sun usually comes out the next day and melts everything pretty quickly. It isn't that bone-chilling eastern type of coldness. A lot of days I can get away with warmer layers under a dark colored windbreaker and feel pretty warm if the sun is shining. The temps drop pretty quickly after the sun sets though.

I hope you like it here. Did you say hi to the world's largest prairie dog as you were passing though KS?

I don't remember the prairie dog. Kind of surprised that I missed it since there was zilch to look at otherwise. Are snow chains required by law? I saw a couple of signs that seemed to suggest that their would be calls for it.

Outside of living downtown (10 month lease) I think I will like it. I am a little too beat up for skiing, but I love the non-humid air. I visited two years ago and it seems that there is an explosion of growth on the NE end.

Thanks,
FF

Traction & Chain Laws
Colorado does have a fairly restrictive "chain law" that will apply to passenger cars. You will mostly run into it in the mountains, but if you drive Monument Hill between Denver and the Springs, you might see it there. They do tend to rely on the solar snow plows in cities, so don't expect them to plow residential areas and side streets. Denver only does "streets with stripes" unless we start getting close to a foot with extended forecasts of cold that won't let the snow melt. If you can live with staying parked, you might not need chains unless we have really heavy snow and cold weather. If you really need to drive a lot, a box of chains might be another thing to add to your shopping list.

The Prairie Dog is near Oakley, KS, so you might have missed him if it was darkish when you went through there. There used to be a lot of signs about it for around 60 miles each side of Oakley. The Prairie Dog and "A Kansas Farmer feeds ## people and you" signs are about all there is out there. At least the farmers plant different things and plow in different directions out there. Eastern Colorado was always the worst because it was just miles of dried up sagebrush. I used to drive between Denver and Lawrence, KS and swore that it took about 9 hours to get between the state line and Denver, but only about 2 hours to cross Kansas.

The dry air is nice, but the static sparks aren't so much in winter. I killed a thermostat with a spark a few years ago. I try to remember to discharge before touching my PC or other electronics now.
