WHICH George...

In THIS room, and in THIS forum, there is only ONE George that matters. Our esteemed @Bronzed* general, of course. :vapor:

* I just learned that there's a CLOSELY named ECF member!! Sorry about the errant tag, Other Bronze(d).:ohmy::unsure::laugh:

Have been trying to find gif, youtu.be, something of Warner bros 3 little bops "I wish my brother George was here" and the apparent lack makes me feel old and irrelevant

Not this one, is it, Doffy?

Old? Maybe, and join the club, if so. Irrelevant though? That'd be a NO.

THE LIBERACE SHOW

With his fabulous costumes and chatty stage persona, Liberace was a natural fit for TV. In fact, he was one of the first TV stars with The Liberace Show, which aired from 1952 to 1955. His brother, George, played violin in his backing band, but was often absent from show tapings for concerts or session work. Whenever he was, Liberace would quip, “I wish my brother George was here.” Whenever the action in a cartoon would require Bugs Bunny to sit down at a piano, he’d turn to the camera and utter the same line.

That was before my time.:toast:

Mine too. Well, at least that which I can consciously recollect. ;)

I was already years into the corporate travel industry when that was released, so I knew what the song name was (Toronto airport code) out of the gate. All of my friends called it, "Wiz" though. They assumed it was some urinary tract reference.

Of course, I was WAY too "cool" to correct them with actual knowledge. THAT would NOT have played well in my circles.:rolleyes:

I am certainly pleased that I had no interest in popular 'music' when this kind of noise became popular. That was excruciating.

It took a while but, over time, I learned that there were certain people who knew what they knew, even if it was wrong.
