My friends were always listening to Bridge of Sighs, For Earth Below, etc. I just did not connect. Could not see the allure and certainly not with James Dewar. Then suddenly, it clicked. No idea how or why but then I couldn't get enough of those records. Then Robin released In City Dreams and I hated it. In fact, I threw the album in the garbage. About 2-1/2 decades later I reluctantly listened to it again to see why I hated it so much. I loved it! It's now my favorite Trower record. Of all the musicians I've listened to, Trower has always been an acquired taste for me. Now I can listen to anything he does and love it. He reminds me of the silkier side of Jimi Hendrix. I do miss James Dewar though. Gone too soon. His voice and Robin's guitar were made for each other. None more than this, my favorite Trower song...
This tune led me to learning to play the bass. The opening riff is still a regular earworm. It also took me some time to appreciate this band, as I was a dedicated Hendrix fan. I got to see Robin Trower once and stopped comparing him to Hendrix after that.
