Yeah i can see it now, holding a sign that says " Will Work For Samuel Adams" People going to be coming up to me saying dont you know he has been dead since 1803.

I could get some Cheap beer and Cheep batteries then i would have enough for both, But i cant stand Cheep beer and Hate cheep batteries with a passion. I could sell a mod or two but then i would get in trouble with the registered supplier police. I guess the batteries will have to wait till next week. Maybe this weekend might try and sell this old drill press i got in the garage.

EDIT: I just realized this is the 100th post in here. Hell i should win a prize. A prize Like a six pack of Samuel Adams

Built using a 47k RES; without diode or load, she's giving out 4.50-6.18 volts. Here are some more photos. The only areas that have glue are the atty connector, and the on/off slide switch cover. So everything can be moved to a better case if needed.

What do you think?

Nicely done mrengles. Looks good with the Java PCB too. Congratulations.
Did you replace the milli-amp slide switch with a 3 amp?

Not yet, the ones I bought were too big.... I'm sure its going to burn up quick.

Thanks for the kind words breaktru!

PS. Breaktru do you know the digikey part number for the right size switch?

de nada!

I got some real good quality switches for FREE from:
nkkswitches.com

I got 2 styles of miniature Slide Switches.
Single Pole and Double Pole both 3 amps. CS12ANW03 and CS22BNW03

The P.B. switch is 3 amps, SB4011NOH-2A. It's a super nice switch, just too big for tube mods. It's referred to as a miniature.
Check through the catalog for a smaller one.

This link was posted on my forum. Thanks to member, "timesarerough"

BTW, the 3 amp slide I used on my .44 mini booster was from Radio shack, real CHEAP crap, the first one fell apart.

Thanks Breaktru,

The push button switch I used was a Grayhill rated at 5A with 1,000,000 operations at lower amps (P/N 30-30UL). I do need to upgrade the slide switch though. I have some sample PB coming in from Apem Switches, The specs, and size look right online, but you never know until you have them in hand.

The only thing i'm worried about with this build is the slide switch. Hopefully it wont crap-out on me at work today. Its my only PV with me. :)

Thanks again!

Okay mrengles,
In case you want to add switches to your Mod Bin. They are FREE and don't take too long to ship. I understand now that they teamed up with Mouser.

You can get 3 of 3 types of switches. Several members also jumped on it and have received their switches.
Nothing better than FREE for quality switches.

The aluminum CAPS are humming at 6.18 volts, with a 2.5 ohm atty (I know thats a little low) and and AW IMR 14500 batt. Im going to add the ceramic CAPS and see if it helps at all.

Will advise...

I dont know for sure, I believe when the TI Booster gets close to the 12 Watts limit is when it starts singing. I've had this happen with my other booster mod, its not because of the PCB at all.

Thats pushing it past 12 watts a bit. 6.18 volts with a atomizer/carto @ 2.5 ohms = 15.27 watts . 5.5 volts is about 12watts with a 2.5ohm atomizer. The humming is not uncommon a lot of folks report there's doing it. I ordered some 22k resistors. changing out the 10k with a 22k will Bring the top end voltage down Also might give a little bit lower of a low end voltage. I don't use High resistance atomizers so it should work out good for me.

I dont do high voltage normally just wanted to push this to its max and see how she performs. At my low of 4.5 volts she vapes GREAT! I like a bit cooler vapes anyhow.

It only takes about a month to kill a TI chip at 13 watts.
a High pitch whine only happens on mine when the battery is low.

Come to think of it... My battery has been going since early this morning. I bet you she's about ready to be swapped out for fresh. I just let them go to 2.95v the TI chip shuts off and them I replace....

EDIT: Battery just died after sending the last reply.

I soldered on the ceramic CAPS, I have not noticed any difference in performance. Only time will tell if battery life has changed.

Will advise...

I have used 100uf, 22uf, and no caps. I can't tell any vapeing difference, but the one with no caps was doing good till I put a dual coil in my tank @13 watts. It crapped out after about a month of that overload.

Gummy,

I added the ceramic CAPS in addition to the 100uf aluminum CAPS. So my build has a total of 4ea. I don't know how much it will help in this application. But it is recommended in the TI manual.
