Chompin' at the bit here to see how well the FQ does. Hey, Big Screen D, not sure if you received the second batch of tubes, or the first, so let me know. I got the smaller stuff from sw9668 who gave it to all as a HNY gesture. I have about a foot plus of both left.

So that said, if anyone wants some, let me know. It's still in PIF mode. FOC

Oh yea, that smaller tube should work fine. Thicker walled than the glass, so the ID is a bit smaller than mine it looks like. So 1mm ID? Now THAT is a tight squeeze to get a coil in!

Whatever size it is in the pic I think it will work great... But the issue for me was trying to find a way to seal the top I still haven't .. I should of tried torching Pyrex and seeing if I could melt it on, but last time I tried doing that to fq the Pyrex attached but the second I tugged on it it broke clean away from the fq,I was heating the fq at the same time, but maybe not enough. The fq just doesn't want to melt.. And I will also say I did cut this fq in the pic with a file, and it broke clean..

I offered up an idea to dsy5 earlier. I would bet that a 1 x 2 (or 1 x 3) jewelry crimping tube may just fit the end of the tube if you heat it first. It all depends on how exact the OD of the crimp tube is. Once placed, you could feed the NR and then crimp the outside edge around the wire.

Yeah, I'm nutz. LOL

Big Screen D - Nice Job! Trying to catch up here....

Yeah, coils coils need to against the glass. Three layers of mesh is all you want.

Is this still optimal?

In case you're having trouble falling asleep:blush:

Sleep is for the other guy.....great video BTW.

Eureka! I positively have this atty perfected.

1.4 ohm 32ga Nichrome coil.
3x3cm 500 mesh wick=3 layers over 1.8

Perfect hit after perfect hit at only 3.1v! Immediate response with almost no lag time. Clouds with great flavor.

Key differences is having finally figured out a proper way to keep the wick tight against the glass, and keeping coil short enough so that it doesn't extend into the wick hole where there is to much juice.

Anything you can share on keeping the mesh tight against the glass? This was an issue for me on with using an SS mesh tube on this inside of the glass with coils on the outside of the glass. It starts off great, then the mesh tube recoils and vaper production drops off.

Heat the wick unrolled to stiffen.
Roll around a syringe needle, nail, etc that is slightly smaller than the glass tube.
Slide the wick over the tapered end of the tube so it stretches as slid down.
Tie a piece of thin wire at the top of the wick to keep it in place. I used 36ga Nichrome I had laying around. Cotton thread works as well, though it has a tendency to stretch.

I want to know when we are going to start using aerogel.. Lol

I did some researching in it tonight and plan on calling some manufacturers Monday...
When water is added to aerogel, the capillary action usually just causes it to crumble especially the silica ones which Are most common, but I'm thinking depending on the matrix it could hold up, especially I would think some of the metal lattice types but again that's why I need to call manufacturers Monday..

Carry on. Not trying to hijack.. Just something I have been thinking about for awhile..
