I thought the whole point of a reo was not dry hits? because you cant over squonk?
You can still get dry hits. If your coil is too high and the cotton doesn't correctly absorb the juice. If you forget to squonk. Yes you can certainly easily dry hit on a reo. The point of the reo is being able to have so much extra juice in board that can easily be administered to the coil

I have been wanting one for a while now, because I almost exclusively drip, but I dont like the price tag. But when I do get one (or a clone, if they ever make one - dont kill me!!) I feel like I will squonk almost unconscious all the time and ill end up covered in juice!
I guess if you are a real "pro", you can tell by the density of the hit when it's time to squonk. I'm almost there. But sometimes you take that last big cloud hit and get some of the cotton scratchiness at the end of it. Something like this might eliminate that, but can it hold enough juice- or would you have to squonk after every hit?
Idk how the decks of the atties look on a reo, but maybe you would need an elevated insulator so all the juice wouldnt just flow back down into the bottle

So the pictures he posted are micro tubes? I am really getting curious as to what form we would need to use.
As for the ceramic, I wasn't vaping when ceramic was more widely used, but in researching this, the ceramic comparison has come up.

Well the great thing is you can use any dripper if you have a drill press or (very steady hands) to convert it to a bottom feeder. I converted a Magna which of course has deep wells and it's pretty great. But with cotton wicks it is possible to have a bit too much juice sitting in the wells and giving the wicks "wet feet". I wonder how the quartz would handle that....
I am searching for micro quartz tubing, and I am seeing some high priced options. It seems like this stuff is widely used for fiber-optic applications, so I wonder if there is something common to us that uses this that we could "repurpose"....

I was just thinking that a few pieces in the pack may end up being small enough to wrap as they come, and the others could be broken into smaller pieces. That was before the comment about glass shards came into the discussion. The pictures posted earlier of the tubes, was the first time I had seen them that uniform. The guy at the B&M had pictures of just raw quartz wrapped. That was what I had in mind originally.

My wife is a HUGE fan of custom made crystal jewelry. She buys a ring/necklace/odd and end every other day from a crystal jewelry maker on the internet. I'll ask her to shoot her an email and see if she can sweep me up some quartz shards when she gets done crafting. Might be able to get a metric s#&t ton for free! I'll report back!
Also, you probably want to use a uniform quartz rod rather than a raw crystal.
You don't need to worry about dust cutting it. Score and snap.
Stacking a bunch of smaller rods/filaments/capillary tubes should increase the surface area for the liquid.

SO, Where do we get it, How do we get it cut iin the proper sizes since I don't believe anyone here has found a suitable "off the shelf" option. But as nasca said, the "potential" benefits are astounding- if it works in practice. We need a trial by someone....
There are quartz stirring rods. It's uniform but a bit pricey :
