Question about cottons?

Ok so I am looking at getting a kayfun clone, I've read about cotton, I know about Japanese cotton and rayon but I'm seeing people talking about cotton balls, do they mean the type you pick up in shops (normally in the cosmetics Isle) just wanted to check if it was that or something else?

Yes, you can use cotton balls. Some people use sterile cotton balls. Another source of wicking material, which I personally use and love, is Cotton Bacon. It doesn't taste like bacon, it's just in strips like bacon. It's easy to use and fairly cheap. Plus you don't have to boil it. It comes ready to use.

yes, the same cotton balls in the cosmetics section ... you might find Japanese cotton pads there also.

I went from cotton to a cotton wick material. Then I discovered rayon....

Their is also organic unbleached cotton. You can get it online. They call it " organic cotton wick" it provides a very clean vape with no taste to the cotton. It's what I prefer to use. I have several types of wicking media, including Japanese cotton pads and I prefer the organic cotton the best. It lasts long and does not have a tendency to burn. You might want to try it. You can get it off amazon.com. you shape it into the wick shape. Hope this helps.

I bought a bag of organic cotton balls from Walgreens several months ago, and it has been working great. It was less than $3 and it's still well over half full (and I change my wicks at least once a day).

Cheers for the answers, just wanted to check as I want to experiment and find what's right for me but don't want to use something that's going to be harmful

A bag of CVS/Walgreens Organic cotton balls for $4 will do the job just fine.
