I've got my device, and now I've got my juice, but I'm not overly happy with how I vaporize it so I'm looking for ideas/suggestions.

Here is what I've tried with comments:

-Boge 3.0ohm Cartos (reg size)
These are great and the closest thing I have to being happy with my system. Flavor and vapor are great. The problems are juice collecting on the mouthpiece rubber stopper thingy, and juice leaking out the bottom on the batt connector. Also, they burn dry pretty quick and need constant refilling. Finally, they can kinda get a metallic taste sometimes... not that dry burnt taste when dry, but a metallic undertone even on a full carto.

-Boge 3.0ohm Cartos (XL)
I thought these would help with the refilling, but the juice just seems to collect at the bottom and get gurgly. Otherwise, same pros/cons as above, but they seem to be worse about the metallic taste

-Boge Low Res
Same as above, but don't see the point since I'm on a variable voltage PV. With either Std Res or Low Res I can get the same vape by just adjusting the power...

-CE2 Clearomizers
My first vape on these was awesome, great flavor and vapor, but after using them for a bit I became very aware of a strange plasticy taste. It seemed to get worse the more I used them. Whatever it is, its sickening. I tried side by side comparisons to my Boge and there is definitely a weird taste there (to me). Also, they don't seem to handle higer voltages well. I think they don't wick fast enough, but they vape fine around 3.7 to 4.0. Eh... I don't know what I think of them yet.

-Vivi Nova
I was Really excited about this, but was disappointed to notice the same plastic taste as with the CE2s. I had thought the taste CE2s maybe came from the rubber stopper or tank tube, but now since I taste it on the Vivi, I'm thinking it might be the poly wicks themselves... Again, eh... not sure what I think yet

-Smoketech Dual Coil.
These produce a ton of vapor (to me), but have the same leak problems as the Boges and I think the flavor is a bit more muted than with the Boges. Not sure what I think here either.

I'm thinking about trying the CE3s and CE4s, but now I'm kinda expecting the same plastic taste. I'd like to try a tank to see if that helps with using the Boges, but I guess I'm a bit intimidated by punching cartos, and I'll still have the leak issues.

SO.... What do you use and why? Any suggestions? Keep in mind I've only been at this two weeks, so please include explanations if you can. Sometimes short answers combined with the lingo gets confusing. :)

I used to get the same issue with my CE4 Clearomizer. They don't wick fast enough, I learned if I tilt it at a certain angle it works fine and I never get that god awful taste. It's a pain in the .... though. lol

Ya know, is there really a 'price' on saving your life? Just sayin' :2cool:

I'm a 'gear junkie' and am proud to be. Price is no object. Only desk space, and confusion are the hurdles... which tends to envelop me at times.

haha no price on my life... but still gotta pay rent, car, eating... ya know the other "necessary" stuff :p

I have been at this for over a year and it seems that every time I get it figured out something changes. My original starting out after the super cig was an ego-t. I found the atomizer to be a joke the tank system a bigger joke and got frustrated. Then I began lurking around the forums and found that I could use Dual Coil cartomizers on my ego. After ordering a bunch of these and loving it, I read about variable voltage so I ordered a vv device. Using this with my dual coils was a nightmare these things only seemed to like my ego. When I ordered my vv I saw the DCT by MAP so I ordered one and fell in love with the tanks. Unfortunately I kept burning through cartomizers at 5v which seemed to be where I liked it but my DC's couldn't process it (they seemed to be the Savant of cartomizers). So when my vv died I bought a bolt and was right back to 3.7v, but low and behold you can put a 4.8v NiMh battery in and hit at 5v:D. Only these darn cartos won't let me. I didn't think I could use any other carto for my tank I thought the DC's were the only ones that were long enough, but wait there are boge 2.0 xl's so I ordered them and was in heaven not only did they fit in my tanks but actually worked at 5v:evil:. Now all of a sudden every Boge I buy is blah for some reason. I rewired my vv and it is back up and running, I also rewired my Bolt (Here is that). So now after being frustrated with all the cartos changing I am now using a Phoenix rebuildable atty but can't seem to get it to handle 5v either yet 3.7v seems very blah to me so at this moment I am using my Bolt with a 2.0 Boge XL in a submarine tank and a 4.8v NiMh battery with Alice in Vapeland's Frost Blossom and this setup is working but not getting what I want out of everything so to answer the op I'm not sure with all the things that are changing at this point and time in the vaping world that we will find the perfect setup. You have to remember vaping is still in the very early stages, but I am proud to be a part of it and very much enjoy this community.

Really think you should try the biansi imist, lasts ages, parts are cheap and its a tank system so no funny carto business. The atomizer lasts for 2-3 months and I'm a heavy vaper. wicks lasts for about a month or two and cost £1/$1 for 5. Absolutely no leaks, no plastic taste and no burnt taste (as long as you top em up regularly. It is a cool and airy vape but its a minor issue for most. go for it, you can get one for £8 - $10 dollars.

By the way its a very high quality piece of kit and don't let the ego-T/C put you off it, its completely different, I couldn't stand the Boges/clearomizers/eliqs/ego-w as the hassle to keep them working was unbearable, especially that plasticy taste.

One question on the CE2's you tried.

Did they have Black Seals and Mouth Piece or were the Seals Clear and the Mouth Piece White?

Op here:
Loved the tale of woe. I feel ya. :)

I've finally settled in -- a bit. I gave up on the Boges completely. Sure, one out of every box was like I remember them, but to get to it I had to go through 2 DOAs, one that just tasted funky, and one that tasted ok but burnt out in an hour. Now I'm using Kangers. Maybe not as good as I remember the Boges being, but flippin close! Also they are a bit of a juice hog, but that doesn't matter now that I've got them in a Cartomator tank. No need for 5Vs either because these I got from avidvaper are about 1.5-1.7ohms. Even on my Provari I don't go above 3.5-4.0 volts which total is pushing a max of about ~2.6amps or about 11 watts. Trust me, they got hot and kick out the vapor. I have to replace them about every two days. I'd suggest giving them a try.

Also, I got a Penelope Rebuildable. It's flat out amazing... when I've got it in the sweet spot. Otherwise its light on vapor, flooded, burnt, or whatever. With adjustable airflow, juice control, and wick/coil building, there is quite a learning curve. I think it's worth it though because once I have it figured out, I can determine my vape, not some manufacture with poor QA in China. And when it works it has the cleanest purest flavor you can imagine. Just like dripping, but more consistent.

Never even heard of these. When googled, most of the shops are in the UK. Anyone know when to get one in the States? Also, what exactly are these? Looks like an ego-T, but... different. I'm guessing the juice sits on top and is wicked to the coil, but how does the vapor get to your mouth -- does it flow around the sides of the tank?

.... going to look into these... Thanks!

Pheonix rebuildable Atty. Pure vaping pleasure. It can hold 20 drops!!!AVA HR Atty is nice but very tight draw.Use on a Apollo Vtube. Provari on the way. Bolt chrome on sale at HHV...Just bought one.

I checked out some pics of the Pheonix RBA, and it looks pretty cool. I guess it's like dripping? How/where does it hold the liquid? Also the coil looks tiny. How hard is that to rebuild? I have a Penelope, but I'm not very good at adjusting the juice control and keeping a consistent vape. Still learning I guess. I'm interested experimenting with other RBAs, but not ready to shell out the cash yet. The Pheonix looks pretty affordable though, assuming I can find it in the states.

It is a pain to rebuild but I finally just started buying prewound wick and wire from NHaler and add 1-2 extra wraps and I am vaping at 6v and it is amazing. As for holding the liquid I just drip a ton into it and I haven't had it leak yet, there seems to be a well and the wick absorbs most of it right away then the rest just sits there until the wick starts drying out.

Saw one of the iMists in action at a meet couple of nights ago. I was dead set against tank systems from previous setups I've tried, but this one looked great. Aesthetically pleasing, easy to setup, no leaking, and really comfortable flat black tip. Airy like most tanks out there, but get one with higher ohms and crack up the volts on your PV and it should compensate with the extra warmth. Would give it a go if I were in the market for one of these. Have lost my love for Stardusts/Novas - inconsistent vape and flavor and far too fiddly. Might as well go into a repairable atty (which I did- got a Penelope) for the amount of effort I put into the clearos. And then, there's good ole dripping. Has never let me down, flavor is always the gold standard of any delivery system, and relatively inexpensive to replace. Get one of good quality (though I can't see myself plunking down $20+ for an atty like HH or AVA) and you're golden. The inconvenience of having to drip drops is the only downside really which is where I hope to strike a sweet spot with the Penelope (flavor of an atty, convenience of a tank). The fact that it can be quickly switched into a stainless steel drip atty by unscrewing the tank is icing on the cake... Still, I'll always have a few atties for backup when I need to test flavors or things get dire experimenting with more complicated and error prone systems out there.
