I don't know what my deal is with the CE2s / Vivi Nova. I haven't read of anyone else complaining about a plastic taste. Maybe I vape too hard so I'm burning the wick. I tend to take long drags, 5-7sec, and I don't put it down for more than about 5 seconds before firing up again. Hadn't thought about cleaning, because this is still their first fill so they should taste brand new. Maybe being brand new is the issue. Do they take a while to "break in" or something? Or do they ship with some kind of coating that I should clean or burn off? ... Also, what is a DoD? Department of Defense? ;)

Whoa where have I been? haha

It could just be an issue of breaking it in if it's on the first fill. Also, primer fluid even with CE2 is very possible. I had to use a new one because my plug went bad and I noticed a filmy residue on the bottom. Most devices require a break in period. You may very well just have a very sensitive sense of smell.

lol... DoD is called drip on demand from madvapes. as warned, it looks all kinds of wonky. But no backsplash, no manual filling for cartomizers or attys Drip On Demand Kit

To answer MikeB's question since I'm one of the people it was directed to. It's a bad idea to vape any atty completely dry. They are all the same when it comes to that. If you want to change flavors, blow out what you can of the old flavor and drip the new. You'll get to enjoy the mix for a few hits (Really, RY4 and banana isn't that bad. :) ) but, you get to the new flavor pretty quickly.

Since there's a sub-thread about the Penelope, I'll address that a bit. I just got mine Monday. So far, it's wonderful and very forgiving. You need to have a multimeter and you need to know how to read resistance. It only comes with enough wire to make one coil. You'll need more. I'm using 30GA .999 fine silver for the non-resistance part and 32GA kanthal for the resistance wire. I got them both on ebay. I'm also using a wick made from roll cotton rather than the silica it comes with. This very long thread explains why and how you might want to do that.

Wow... Thanks to all who've replied! I've got some reading to do and products to check out. Seriously, thanks.

You know, there is a lot more in the PV world than I knew existed. It's a bit dizzying at times. Truthfully, I'm starting to find that when I get all focused in on "Do I want to try product XYZ with options 2 or 3, OR do I want to try ABC with option 5, OR... ???" ... Well, it's time to walk away from the internet for a while and let my neurons relax. :)

I've finally got a PV I like, I've finally got a juice I can stand to vape all day, and now I just have to find a comfortable "delivery method"... 2 outa 3 ain't bad. ;)

MikeB - Plus one here for the 306 atty and drip tip. I started out dripping and knew that was the way that I wanted to vape every day. The reason I went that route is because I'm kinda juice OCD and like switching between flavors...I have flavors that I like to vape all day and others that I like after meals or in the evening when I'm trying to wind down for bed. I started with the 510's and I wasn't getting as much flavor out of them as I wanted (tried probably 30 juices in them...wasn't the juice). I was also finding in those that they were gumming up quickly for me and I was blowing them out constantly and it made for a pretty poor experience in my opinion. I thought this was due to the bridge and wick setup in them so I then bought some bridgeless 510's and gave those a go...that was a really good vape but it was still missing something so I went here:

Cannon | Drip Tips | Cisco 306 | LR | Atomizers | Cherry Vape

I got myself set up with two 306's and the cannon drip tip (watch some youtube videos about that tip...its awesome) and using the same batteries and same juices its astounding what a difference it has made for me. When I got those attys the first thing I did was de-wick them to get that stuff out of there and then started vaping them and I'm really happy for the moment. Im like you though and I keep wanting more and more so next I am trying out the Cisco 306's and then probably will give the HH357 510's an audition. Hope this helps! just my opinion and two cents from another new vaper.

I got my 306 atty in with drip tip, and HOLY COW, that thing is amazing. It's like I haven't even tasted these juices before. Hands down... best vape I've ever had. I can now see why people "drip".

It's created a puzzle in my mind though. It is awesome, but not real convenient. It's fine at home, but I can't see myself adopting this anywhere else. At work it wouldn't be practical and in the car... yikes! This leaves me to think about those rebuildable attys you guys were discussing. Is that the only way to get close to the "dripping" experience?

If you want to try one out at a very reasonable price to see if they are right for you, The Old Goat http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-incredible-price-old-goat-bottomfeeders.html
You can move on from that one if you like the bottom feeder, I skipped it entirely and went straight for the Reo Mod LOL and the VV ReoGrand will be comng out soon for if you want the variable voltage. I know there are other VV Bottom Feeders as well but I'm not familiar with them.

Thanks for the link! :)

Is there something that will do the same thing, or something similar, on my Provari?

i have gone through boge cartos, dct tanks, ce2's, drip on attys, eGo type A, 510 tanks (the little ones that hold about .5ml)

for me, it doesnt get any better (or cost effective) than viva nova 2 and stardusts... i really prefer the tank style over the filler material style ones.

with the nova tanks, they are EASY to clean... the stardusts are a bit more difficult but just got the v3 ones with replacable heads today so they will be tested this week.

best part about these is that the nova tanks are around $20 and the stardusts are around $6 so thats where im at right now

The plastic taste from the Nova is well documented. The coil and legs going to connector are the same wire. The legs get hot just like the coil but they are dry and touching the seals in the connector (thats where burnt plastic taste comes from). If you make your own coil with non-resistance wire for the legs they won't get hot and problem is solved. The coils are made the same as you'd do with the Odysseus or Penelope. I have 2 Odys and 1 Pene. I use the Odys on new Provari, they are same diameter and shorter than the Pene. They seem really pricey at first but trust me, they are worth every cent. They are built solid and will last forever. You can make the coil exactly how you like it. There is a flow control for the juice so you can dial it in depending on wattage and juice PG/VG ratio. No dry hits, no flooding and no leaks. Just fill it, pop it on your mod, set the voltage and enjoy. I usually build a new coil once a week. I could probably go longer but I like fiddling and that the only chance I get now. These hit so hard I'm going with lower nic levels on next juice order. I love all this info, thanks so much. I'll definitely watch the video.

How do you think the Pene/Odys compares to dripping? I've just discovered dripping since my 306 came in and honestly this is how vaping should be... in terms of quality and volume of vapor, taste, thoat hit... Frankly, its perfect except for the dripping! lol :) Dripping just isn't practical for me except at home (and its all I do at home now). If these rebuildables are like dripping, I'm all over it. It has to be worth the hassle to "fill and go" but have the feel/taste of dripping.

AlmityPunx / genelman,
I have tried the Vivi and the CE2s and as Unloaded described, I just can't help but taste the plastic. Otherwise it's a great vape, I just wish they'd rework it with different wiring (like Unloaded suggested) or different wicks if that's the issue and fix them. They'd be perfect then. ... I haven't tried the CE3s or CE4s(stardusts), but I can't help but think they'll taste the same since the construction materials of the attys look identical and I have the same experience on both the Vivi and CE2s. I seem to be very sensitive to taste, and there are only a handful of juices I like (and I have a tackle box full).

Do you agree with my assessment, or do you still think the CE3s & 4s are worth a try?

Also another update here: New Tank, Horrible Vape

Summary: I got a Cartomator tank in to see if tank vaping is for me, but the darn thing doesn't wick. The carto is bone dry. I tried "priming" it till it was soaked with 20-25 drops, and I even let it soak overnight, but as soon as I vape the 20-25 drops out I get dry, airy hits. Not burnt, just dry. I also tried breaking the seal to see if there was some kind of pressure causing a problem, but no luck there either...

i still recommend the viva novas... they are the easiest to use and refill.. plus i cant help but fiddle with all my juices... got a bottle of angel tears (menthol drops), koolada and sweetner drops i like to add in depending on my mood that day. this offers me the ability to do it with only 3ml and since tastes change its good.

the cartomizer tank or DCT tank, ive had all kinds of problems with. it started out good but refill was a pain and always leaked some... i started getting lots of dry hits so i enlarged the hole a TINY bit and then it flooded it every time... also leaked in my pocket.

as far as the odyssius... i hear good things but for me ive already dropped more money than i did smoking (ya i got a lil overboard with juices and mods) so i cant justify dropping that kind of cash on another system that will offer 95% as good for $75 less...

i may have to try one of those 305 attys though... never had much luck with dripping.
