I have both sometimes the smaller is more convenient if away from home then larger capacity at home so not always charging.

4. Which shape is more pleasing to you to hold: something cylindrical or a box shape?
Cylindrical am not into box.

5.How long would you like or need the batteries to last in a typical day.For some this an 8 hour shift or could be 16 or more hours depending on your lifestyle.
Retired so just re-charge when necessary.

6. How much effort do you want to put into vaping? Do you want something that requires little effort or are you more of a tinkerer? Generally extremely active lifestyles or someone who's constantly on the go doesn't have a lot of time but the reverse could be true for you as well.
I enjoy the tinkering and whilst I doubt I would both to construct from scratch am happy messing around with clearomizers and enjoy working with my treasure chest of goodies.

7.Do you think you would prefer tobacco, menthol, fruit and candy or dessert flavors?
My tastes are changing - started with favourites in tobacco range now really enjoy fruit and dessert flavours. Menthol I keep on hand in case I get a cold but was never a menthol smoker.

8.Do you think you would like a warmer or a cooler vape? (A warm vape uses higher voltage or lower resistances to make the vapor warmer in your mouth while a cool vape works just the opposite) Also let us know if you have sensitivities to cold or an aversion to hot liquids.

I love flavour and the throat hit. Am not so concerned about the actual amount of vapour/steam.

10.Which is more important to you, price, quality, ease of use, or reliability? Its okay to have more than one answer just list them in order of importance.
Quality and reliability then price and lastly ease of use. Service and friendly contact from seller is also important.

11.How much are you looking to spend on your initial purchase or upgrade?
My first purchase which was a disaster was from an Australian company and so I went to America. Spent about $50 and was very happy with all I considered important. That was from Smokeless Image. I have since bought from both Australian, not gone back to the first

12. Have you looked at any other accessories such as clearomizers, cartomizers, tanks, pre-filled cartidges etc and do you have any questions about how they work or what they are?
I started with cartos but moved to clearomizers and tanks and much prefer them for flavour retention. Find them easy to work with and last well with no leaking and no drips into mouth. Much nicer.

13. Would you feel more comfortable vaping (popular term used to refer to inhaling vapor from an electronic cigarette, mod, PV or APV) in public or do you prefer to do it in private?
I mainly vape at home but have vaped in public areas such as airports with the smokers and discussed with them ECigs. I vape at informal gatherings of friends.

14. Whats your favorite color?
Unusual question in here. Love yellow and am keen on orange.

15. Do you have any disabilities or other difficulties that might have a bearing on your choice? ex: some peoples wrists aren't strong enough to hold a big battery mod or their eyesight doesnt allow easy filling of ejuice (the liquid containing nicotine and flavoring used in electronic cigarettes, also referred to as nicquid or e-liquid)
Early cataracts so work in bright room when I am filling clearomizers - no problems.

16. Have you thought about securing backup devices in the event of failure or purchasing extra batteries?
Yes - mission accomplished. Always keep spare everything as buying from USA is usually trouble free but!! :)

17. Do you think you would prefer a battery that starts at 3.7 volts and gradually drops in voltage and vapor production as it drains or would you prefer the voltage to stay the same throughout the life of the battery?
Yes, as I use clearomizers, I like full voltage at the start and then a drop off as the EJuice lessens. I find if the battery retains full voltage I have to take shorter vapes. I don't like the burnt taste.

I'm very sorry Jude, we aren't quite ready to present this as is just yet, we are trying to sort this out right now, it's not meant to be answered just yet.

I understand your frustration Bad.

Kiwi Im not trying to be rude but I dont know any other way to say this. You REALLY need to read the entire post and make sure you comprehend it before replying to someone.

This isnt the first time that youve focused on a sentence or a part of a sentence and ended up taking it completely out of context to whats actually being said.

I dont know if English isnt your second language, if youre just doing this to argue, if theres a reading comprehension issue or you're just skimming but frustrating is an understatement.

Zapped you don't know when to leave things alone, and I am getting tired of the way you make things personal to try and discredit some-one. I do read the whole post, am intelligent and articulate, and English is my first language. Instead of sticking to the issue under discussion you have ranted and raved at me, been rude, and made personal attacks. I think you could take your own advice here, and re-read what I posted on this thread.

One of the things that often comes up in the new members forum particularly is that when some-one says they want something cig sized they are told to buy something else - even when a person said she had extreme anxiety when she picked up an Ego in a B&M, but felt ok when she tried a cig size pv, there were people still telling her not to get a cig size pv. Another member of this forum that I have a lot of respect for related once how he spent two hours helping some-one privately because she had been told not to get a cig-a-like, but to get an ego twist. She didn't like the twist, didn't feel comfortable with it, and was ready to give up vaping.

It was with those sort of things in mind that I posted this here in this thread:

So when some-one answers this question:

3. How important is it for your electronic cigarette (also called a mod, PV or APV) to look like and feel like a cigarette to you?

And they say its very important - let's respect that.

Instead of mischaracterising me perhaps you could look at how you respond. I think you still have a beef about an old thread in which people made suggestions on what could be in third version of a Provari. Your responses then were over-reactive too. Please put it behind you. If we are going to work together as a community then we need to leave old grudges and misunderstandings out of things and move on. A thread like this should be for everyone.

Hi Judea, Going by what you posted, and not sure if you're looking for a pv or were trialling the questionnaire (sorry), I think you may like a yellow or orange X2 from Smokeless Image. If you're comfortable with something bigger than that a mechanical mod or nearly meachanical mod like a Bolt or Silver Bullet could be of interest to you. You should be able to get either of those in a yellow or orangish color I think. if not, they have some great colors.
The Smoktech telescope mod is also a good one as you can use different size batteries with it so can have it as a stealthier size or a bigger size mod.
If you were trialling the questionnaire then this is good practice for me, and if you are looking for a pv I hope it was of some help.

Good idea. We could give people the link to it as well. I answered Judea in case he was wanting some suggestions right now.
I think we'd have to point people to it - they often just join and post without checking the stickies.

That was the general plan from the start, getting the post stickied so it could be updated and then providing people a link to it so they could copy and paste it along with their answers when asking for help.

I saw a suggestion for having a thread where people post replies, but I think pointing them to a sticky is better. Then its up to them of course. Some will, some won't.

I fail to see an argument here. This questionare was put together to try and prevent some of the problems of the past. No, not everyone will see it, we will have to make it known. No, not every reply will conform to what the OP wants or needs, we can't stop that.
But, PLEASE, there is no fight here, we are all trying to achieve the same goal in this thread, we want to find a better way to help new members get started on what they think, for now at least, what they want or need. Nothing more, nothing less!
This isn't about suggesting a Provari to someone with a $50 budget, this isn't about talking someone out of cig-alikes, this is an attempt to help prevent these things in the future.
Can we please stop the arguing about "this or that" and focus on the task at hand, trying to find a better way to help new members get started on the journey?

Exactly. the arguments need to be kept out of this thread as its not making any of us look helpful, nice, knowledgeable or even friendly. If you were someone brand new to the forums would you honestly want to jump into the middle of that and ask a question?

I hope the mods see fit to sticky the original post so this wont have to be dealt with there.

I would like to recommend a sort of picture dictionary of the more commonly discussed items be included. Images help the brain retain information easier than a discription. This is why my posts are so image heavy.

If the group decides to, perhaps a breakdown of the available e-cigs by category would be helpful for new people. Perhaps they could be grouped into beginner, intermediate, and advanced PV's. This is the more common progression observed here on ECF. New people will be able to better see what is available to them and what may or may not be in their future with basic explanations why some people move into a different direction from the starting kits. Care will need to be taken to eliminate personal biases and personal opinions.

This project will be a huge undertaking and will not come together over night. But having a resource that new people can be directed to with a link would be a wonderful addition to ECF.

Kiwi and Zapped.... you're both missing each other. You're basically saying the same thing. I don't know where the argument is. Zapped clearly came up with the questionnaire to help newbies give some input on what they're looking for and alleviate the "what should I buy" question being answered by folks that tell everyone to buy some big mod off the bat when that's not what they're looking for. Kiwi is saying that when someone says they want a 78mm cig sized model, we should respect that and give them options. I fail to see what we're arguing about.

I'd like to see the questionnaire stickied in the new members section with an instruction to copy/paste to a new thread and fill it out so that people can respond and help them. I've actually thought about putting something similar together. I go through these questions with my new converts in person all the time, hand them a 78mm Volt, and a Volt X2 with cartos, clearos, and some juice.. let them try it for a day or two, and then take that feedback to help them buy what they want. Sometimes it's the 78mm kit, but in the case of the owner of a company I worked for it was a Provari and pyrex carto tank system. Everyone has their own starting point. This is a great way to help them find it.

I am similar to you I think - I lend people some ciggish size, but do show them bigger pvs. So far though they only have wanted the ciggish size. They look at my mods like they're from out space sometimes.
I think having some questions to narrow things down is good, even if some-one doesn't answer every question on the questionnaire.
ETA: having thought about it some more, I think I'd like to consider it a bit more myself though and think about some aspects before being committing to it.

I agree. Most people want something analog sized with pre-filled cartridges. I can understand that because its what I "thought" I wanted in the beginning. That lasted about 2 weeks into the things.

On the other hand, I was visiting family over thanksgiving. They are fully aware of the success that I have had quitting cigarettes through vaping. I spent at least two hours showing them my mods and tanks, letting them try out a variety of flavors, showing them ECF and other websites to bookmark on the computer. When we were finished, I asked them what interested them, and they both said, "We want what you have."

One has already received their Provari.

Yep. I started with 78mms and was very happy with them. Eventually, I was happier not having to charge so often and moved to bigger batteries. I would NOT have attempted vaping with even an eGo sized battery on day 1. I thought everyone on here was a bunch of effing nutcases walking around with lightsaber things vaping giant clouds. LOL We forget sometimes that people are coming from smoking. You light a cig, smoke it, toss it, there's no filling, no stocking juice, no fiddling, no maintenance, it's simple, easy, and small. Some people see what I use and want what's going to work and last, others want something as fuss free as possible. It's all about giving that individual as much as they're comfortable with. The most important thing I tell my friends is to make a choice to start somewhere.... get started... then realize that there are endless possibilities to tweak the experience from there.

Last week I had a convert tell me she loves the flavor and vapor and portability of her 808, but she's not getting a full day at work out of them. I told her the options are basically 4 small batteries, a PCC that she would have to make sure was charged before leaving the house, or 2 charged X2s (or other eGo sized thing). She was concerned about the size, until I sent her a pic of my 78mm with carto vs. 650mah X2 with clearo or carto. She was concerned I'd laugh at her need for small batteries because I'll sit there with a Zenesis. Nope, I'm not laughing at all. I go out with my 78mm batteries all the time. Company event at the country club? Pink 78mm with a jewel tip that matches my purse. There's a vape for every situation, it's up to the individual to decide what their situation is. It's up to an experienced vapor to HEAR what the person is asking for and give them the pros and cons of what's available, then LET them make the decision.

1. How many cigarettes did you smoke or are currently smoking per day? A number is very helpful since my idea of a heavy or casual smoker could be very different from yours.
12 - 14 cigs a day I used to smoke and always smoked rollies as I liked plenty of flavour. Have not had a ... since about a month before I started vaping.

2. Did you smoke ultra lights, lights, full flavor, filter-less, roll-your-own or cigars?
Rolled my own - Port Royal Tobacco

3. How important is it for your electronic cigarette (also called a mod, PV or APV) to look like and feel like a cigarette to you?
Not important

3. Do you like things big, bulky and durable or do you prefer small and compact?

I do have one variable voltage and find I up the voltage at the start of the clearomizer to get it going but prefer cooler as the flavour remains true imho. I don't like hot and I don't like burnt.

9. What is more important to you, throat hit (that feeling of weight or tickle hitting the back of your throat when you inhale) , vapor production (the amount of vapor or steam produced by your device and/or e-liquid) or flavor(The intensity of the taste of the vapor)? Again its okay to have more than one answer but please list them in order of importance.

Based on your answers to these questions Id recommend a yellow, anodized gold, or red (they look kinda orange in the pic?) Bolt mechanical mod and a Chinese Genesis clone rebuildable atomizer to tinker with. If you get them set up properly I hear they taste almost as good as dripping and you still have the tanks to fall back on (which are no slouch in the flavor department either) You can get the Bolt here for 35.95 The Anodized "Bolt" Advanced Personal Vaporizer by Smok - A quality 18500/18650 3.7v device for less. and can look In the classifieds for a DID, DUD or Chobra RBA and can get them for 20-30 bucks each.

Anyways sorry for the difficulties, hope that helped and let us know how we did :)

I hope the mods see fit to sticky the original post so this wont have to be dealt with there.
You'll probably want to clean it up and repost it when you get it in final form.
It won't be long before you are going to lose the ability to edit the original post anyway.

As an alternative you can ask the moderator to make changes for you.
They will usually help you out with things like that.
