I am still fairly new to vaping so I am threading into some uncharted water here.

Been thinking about getting a REO but had a question or two before pulling the trigger.

I would like a REO Grand - not sure if standard or VV.

[h=3][/h]
1) Why is 90% of the current product out of stock? I understand these are probably hand made by one (or a few) individuals so I know production is slow and low.

2) What is the turn around time?

3) Can you order an out of stock item that would kick off production or do you have to wait for stock to become available?

4) I have seen some reviews on YouTube where the button was questionable but noticed comments indicating that the button design had changed recently. What is the current button design like on the VV Grand?

5) Do they come with any batteries?

I am new to the whole battery thing. Are they rechargeable? What is the differences of one battery over another (an 18350 vs an 18490 for example)? Does anyone have any beginner/into battery links/FAQs?

Just curious.

Thank you in advance.

Start w/ a Grand an AW IMR 18650 (2 preferably) a decent charger if you don't have one extra spings, Kanthal wire, and some CVS sterile rolled cotton.

1. They are out of stock b/c they are uber....just saying. PM Rob he can probrably still make it happen b/c he's a magician.

2. 2 days....but the longest 2 days of your life....you have to be present to sign for delivery or you might have the pain of 3 days.

3. As stated above PM Rob.

4. You don't need the VV but you can get it if u want you'll end up ordering one of each anyways....regardless of what you think now.

5. No you will need 2 and a charger.

AW IMR 18650's are lithium ion batteries like in your cell phone laptop ect...difference in number is size Voltage, amps, ect...

JUST PM REDEYEDANCER IF YOU DON'T SEE WHAT YOU WANT. HE CAN PROBABLY HOOK YA UP.

2) What is the turn around time?

ONCE YOU PAY, THEY GENERALLY SHIP WITHIN A DAY OR TWO.

3) Can you order an out of stock item that would kick off production or do you have to wait for stock to become available?

SEE RESPONSE TO ITEM 1 ABOVE. WOODVILS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

4) I have seen some reviews on YouTube where the button was questionable but noticed comments indicating that the button design had changed recently. What is the current button design like on the VV Grand?

IT'S BEEN UPDATED. NO LONGER AN ISSUE.

5) Do they come with any batteries?

NO.

Just curious.

Thank you in advance.

I put my responses above in caps so you can see them. I'm not yelling - promise :)

Here's my take on the VV grand :)

I like it for several reasons, in no particular order. I'll start by saying if I could only have one REO, it would be a grand (not VV). But I am fortunate enough to have several. Everyone should have atleast one grand AND VV grand.

1 it's size is great. It's slightly taller than a grand but the same width. I use it mainly at home or if I am taking a ride in the car (like to pick up the kids from school) and don't have to worry about pocketing it. It fits my hand perfectly.

2. The button placement is perfect - trigger finger.

3. The way the button fires is superb - it's done thru electronics so it is either on or off (no firing pin / spring / moving positive contact).

4. No noalox required since the contact doesn't move.

5. The batts last a long time. I vape at a very low setting but also rotate mods though.

6. Every hit is exactly the same right up until the stacked 18350s die. Hard for me to explain but since the chip operates on the combined voltage, the batteries still function perfectly all the way down to each battery hits around 3.7 volts. So even at when they are depleted down to 3.7 each, they are still capable of pumping like 7.4 volts! Try vaping a battery depleted down to 3.7 on your grand - it's starting to taper off once your battery is at that point right?

7. There is allot of space inside the mod for bottle access ease.

Here's a movie on the grand :)

Hi Thompsondd, welcome to this forum. Not much to add other than I agree the Reo Grand standard is a great start - and is less expensive. Apparently the AW IMR batteries (18650 for the standard Grand) have safe chemistry and the Grand has been designed for them. Yes, they are rechargeable. And you HAVE to get the Reomizer with your Reo.

Welcome and agree with all of the above. I'd also add to Supe's comment that I'd go for the grand as the first one. It's dead easy to use, no electronics to go wrong, and is smaller than the vv, so easier to 'wear'. I have mine in my breast pocket, others have theirs in their jeans.

Oh, and get the RM2. It may look daunting, but it is easy, and you'll get the best vape ever invented. I've spent $$$$$ on gear, and none of my drippers beat the RM2... and there I don't have to drip :)

The mechanical REO Grand is simpler, shorter, can be washed in the sink, and, with lower resistance atomizers, is capable of much more power and vape than the Variable Voltage Grand. The VV Grand produces higher voltage that can be regulated to be consistent, but using a pair of stacked smaller batteries. Most of us recommend the mechanical Grand as your first REO.

1) Why is 90% of the current product out of stock? I understand these are probably hand made by one (or a few) individuals so I know production is slow and low.

Because these are insanely popular mods. :D They sell as fast as they're made and posted on the web site.

Use the Contact Us form on the website to email Rob about a color combo you want. Rob (Robert Eugene O'Neil = REO) can usually make it happen.

2) What is the turn around time?

About two days, but ask Rob

3) Can you order an out of stock item that would kick off production or do you have to wait for stock to become available?

Don't wait, contact Rob

4) I have seen some reviews on YouTube where the button was questionable but noticed comments indicating that the button design had changed recently. What is the current button design like on the VV Grand?

The button changed on the VV Grand awhile back. I don't think that on the mechanical Grand button has changed. It uses a spring bar switch that contacts the positive post of the battery.

5) Do they come with any batteries?

No.

I am new to the whole battery thing. Are they rechargeable? What is the differences of one battery over another (an 18350 vs an 18490 for example)

Yes, they're rechargable. The first two numbers of the battery are the diameter in mm. The second two are the height. A taller 18 mm wide battery has more capacity, i.e. the 18650 in the mechanical Grand lasts about twice as long as the 18490 in the Mini 2.1, hence it has twice the juice capacity.

You mainly need to know this: Order at least two, preferably three AW IMR batteries (or pairs in the case of the VV) of the size the mod you order uses, from RTDvapor.com, along with a charger. The NiteCore is good and can also operate off 12VDC from your vehicle, boat, or RV in the event of a power outage. Two batteries allows you to vape on one battery while the other is charging. Three ensures there's almost no chance of being without a charged battery.

There are two models of 18650 batteries, the 1600 mAH has a higher current rating, while the 2000 mAH lasts longer and costs a bit more. I have both and can tell no difference between the vape each provides.

Thank you in advance.

I don't have any bookmarked. But I will note there are some extra precautions you want to take with the stacked batteries of the VV Grand.

You didn't ask, but... you can use disposable cartomizers or atomizers on the REOs, but most find a rebuildable atomizer, such as the Reomizer 2.0 (RM2) to have better performance and to be cheaper in the long run, allowing you to wind your own coils of inexpensive resistance wire and make your own wicks of cotton. It's orders of magnitude easier than you think.

Hope this helps.

edit to add:

The REOs are protected with a hot spring that collapses in the event of a short ($4 each) to protect you and your battery. Besides the RM2, you want to add a couple of spare hot springs for metal mods to your order, as well as a couple of spare post screws and a couple of spare o-rings for the RM2. You'll also probably want at least a few more extra bottles. If you don't have any resistance wire, such as that from Temco, Rob sells 3 foot samples. Get some 28 AWG and some 30 AWG.

Agree with all of the above ......... stick with the standard grand to start IMO

Get at least 2 maybe 3 or more AW IMR 18650 batteries.

Charger

RM2 rebuildable atomizer even if you don't start with it you will want it down the road a bit so save on shipping and order now.

You didn't mention what your currently vaping with but the REO can handle 510 or 306 atomizer or cartomizers just fine if you want to start with that to get your REO feet wet.

The toughest part is pulling the trigger on the order, after that we can talk anyone through getting started and vaping bliss.

after reading this thread i've decided also to get a REO

i dont have one but i recently got a Bogger Box...and have been introduced to bottom feeding after 2 freaking years and its like ...why did this take me so long?

Bogger while its a great looking mod with great performance....Marcus is um somewhat of a pain to deal with and i just ordered an RM2 to go on my bogger...anyway

can you Reo people tell me if the customer service is good with this vendor? i mean i assume so as ive read how people are hardcore dedicated to the mod but if i have to go through several months of waiting again i dont think i'd order right now

also, whats the deal with collapsing springs? how often does that happen and if i order today should i get extras?

on batteries i've got some of those Panasonic 18650s are these an ok substitute for the recommended IMRs?

finally, i got some 8ml bottles with my bogger, do you think these are compatible or would i need all new bottles?

Hi the_vape_nerd. My experience with customer service from this vendor was just great, and I live a few miles away. Anyhow, I think that is one of the reasons the Reonauts are so hardcore dedicated. He posted just before your post (redeyedancer) - you can pm him with any queries you might have. Should get your Reo within a week at the longest. Collapsing spring is a safeguard in case of a short. Most order one or two extra, just in case, but it is rarely needed. Most Reonauts recommend the AW IMR safe chemistry batteries, I have not tried the Panasonics, but have seen some peeps using them. The Reo Grand is designed for a 6ml bottle, don't know if the 8ml will fit, maybe someone will know.

André covered it well. Let me just add that customer service from REO (Robert Eugene O'Neil aka Rob) is rapid and impeccable, especially considering he's one guy doing it all. He's an active participant in this forum. There have been holiday weekends where he worked to get REOs out for customers next business day, including mine. He communicates quickly and succinctly. What you need, when you need it--no BS. Reonauts start "Rob is awesome threads" in this forum and customer loyalty here is as much or more to him as to the mod. There's nothing like it in the industry.

Customer service is the best in the world .... not just vaping, any industry I've ever dealt with .... Seriously.

Really I don't know any other way to say it. Robert is a rare find these days, honest, helpful and will go the extra mile or 10 to make anyone satisfied with his product.

As far as collapsed springs .... I've been using the REO for 1045 days now .... every single day except for a week in Jamaica this year and have had one spring collapse. That was do to a bad atomizer that was brand new.

It seems like it would be more prevalent now with RBA's but I do a better job making atomizers than they do in China so I don't think I will ever collapse one again honestly !!

Did I mention the customer service is two steps above top freaking notch ?? Well it is.
