You could use flanged cartos with it if you wanted to slide the bottom delrin piece over the whole body of the carto to the bottom each time, which would kind of be a PITA. See pbusardo's video on YouTube of the Mini Sub tank and you'll see his little experiment, it takes over 4lbs of force to get the carto to come out of this tank - ergo, you don't need a flanged carto :)

They are not delrin end caps, they are vinyl grommets. Delrin is a hard plastic whereas the grommets on the Sub tanks are very flexible vinyl grommets. Also, they slide over the cartos very easily when the tank is not in place. Just the grommet will slide down over the carto with little to no resistance, but once you put the polycarbonate tank in place it squeezes everything together and "locks" it all in place.

:)

Appreciate the response, but I'm still a little confused. I'm not asking if it's possible to use flanged cartos, I'm asking if the bottom of the tank is cut for them, like every other tank I've seen. I've watched Phil's review of them a couple of times, but he never really touches on that aspect, or shows any close-ups of the bottom. I'm guessing it's not cut, which would be kinda unique, but if not, that makes me wonder why nobody's pointed that difference out (non-flanged cartos are cheaper, which would be a selling point, one would assume).

Most tanks are not, in fact, cut for the flanged cartos. I have three tanks here that are not Mom and Pop's and none of them are cut for the prprietary SmokTech cartos. There's only one company that makes them and most people who make tanks don't want to limit their customer base by only working with one particular model of one particular brand of cartomizer.

There are a lot of people "rebranding" the cheap SmokTech DCT's, but they all come off the same line...

I would like to ask about the tanks. I asked about how to clean one, and someone had posted it was as simple as disassembly-duh! (Right? ;) ) So I easily cleaned mine all up. But, how do you guys get them back together so perfectly? Mine is reassembled, and it works great with no leaks, but it definitely does not look as pretty as when Pop sent it to me. The black rubber rings aren't as straight...how do I get them perfectly even again? Any tricks the experts would like to offer up? ;)

1 Slowly move around the perimeter pushing in just a little at a time to keep it even
2 Practice

It gets much easier to make it "look pretty" very quickly, but not having the lip on it like the hard-capped tanks means you can't just pop it in and have it look perfect. Of course on a hard-capped tank if there is even a tiny flaw in the tank or cap it will never look perfect and that can be adjusted for with these. You can also fudge on the size a little if you let the grommet "hang out" a bit. One of the advantages to these tanks is the wide range of adjustability...

The polycarbonate tube is not going to stretch, it's just not how the molecular structure of polycarbonate works. On the other hand, either the screw or (more likely) the poly tank's threading could be wearing from use--especially if you're over-tightening or twisting at an angle. Also, considering the effect some juices have on polycarbonate, I can see the possibility of microscopic stress fractures from over-tightening. And keep in mind that considering the size and tolerance of the threads involved, "over-tightening" may not actually be tight--just too tight for the materials involved.

Personally speaking, if it's not leaking juice I wouldn't worry about it. On the other hand, I have a couple of the tanks I haven't used yet--if you'd like I'll trade a new one for yours. I'm kind of curious to look at it to see what's going on exactly, especially since figuring it out for sure could be helpful to a lot of people...
