I blew out my smok by using a 2 amp charger. So I had to toss the batts and mod. Just picked up a g-priv and I put in 2 efest batts that where drained way to empty. Now I am charging my new mod and every time I take a hit it drops from 24% to 20% and so on power wise. Is this only happening because they were drained and sat for 6 months? New batts needed? or will they charge fine? Or who the hell knows. I'll find out in a few hours anyway. I know nothing about batteries so any education would be appreciated.

The batteries are probably worn out. I would recommend new batteries soon. Also, while your buying batteries, an external charger would be benificial. While mods can charge batteries, they are not good at it and should be considered an emergency feature. Like when you are away from home and your batteries die. If you get two sets of batteries, you can always have one set charged so you shouldn't have any down time waiting for them to charge up.

We are so used to calling alkaline AA/AAA batteries cells (and they are). 9v batteries are a stack of 6-1.5v cells, although most people have never taken one apart to see what's inside. From the outside you can't tell the structure of the inside anyway. Whatever the seller calls it is what it is, for all practical purposes.

Heck, even a car battery is a collection of cells in series.

Hmmmm. Perhaps a dictionary definition is required....
''The difference between a cell and a battery is that a cell is a single unit that converts chemical energy into electrical energy, and a battery is a collection of cells.''

A 4% drop in a battery power per puff would be indicative of a relatively big power draw. What is your resistance and wattage ?

Lithium cells are batteries. Even according to the manufacturers of them.

    Hi Mike,

Draining the batteries and leaving them with a low charge for six months probably damaged them. If you ever want to store an 18650, it's best to leave it about 1/2 charged (3.6 v) and check it every few months because the charge will drop over time even if you aren't using it. It's the charge dropping too low that damages the battery.

Efests aren't the best batteries to use since they're rewraps. Mooch, our resident battery guru, maintains a very useful list of recommended batteries. There are a lot of counterfeit batteries around, so Mooch's list also includes some reliable suppliers.

I'd really recommend learning a bit about the batteries we use to vape. There are some great resources on this forum:

    Totally wrong!

Batteries are a combination of cells!

Please mind the proper usage of names!
I thought you left after the whole battery marriage rant a couple days ago, bummer.

Can I assume you will leave nasty messages for everyone who disagrees with you on our profile pages like you did last time.

    @Letitia he's back.

Yes, each of these are cells, but they are so commonly called batteries that everyone just calls them batteries now so there is less confusion. There are a lot of things that are called something they technically are not, but it is easier to go with it than to try to correct everyone, so they get called the wrong names.

We should ask @Li-Ion Cell Mooch what to call them...:thumb:

pBusardo does call him "Battery Mooch". It fits. Sure, a cell is a cell and a collection of cells connected in series or parallel inside a case is a battery, but the vernacular becomes colloquial in a hurry. These days "Hand me that cell" will get you a phone in your hand. ":)
