So for the first time in 30 years I have been able to put down the analogs. I have been smoke free since Jan 15th, the only way I have been able to win at doing this is with a PV. Thank God for the person who invented these!

Anyway, I have one kid (the one who bugged me the most about my smoking) who instead of being happy is now always asking me....
"how many carts did you use today"? and "When are you going to lower you're nicotine level"?

Now I am a pretty easy going person, but yesterday I blew up at her.
I told her to be happy that after 30 years I was doing something proactive and that if I never gave up nicotine that was my business!

Later that day, as I was driving my boss home, I took 1 little drag off of my pv in my own car, and his comment was....
"I hope that in 3 years when they discover that the 2nd hand vapor is bad for other people, you are prepared to pay my medical expenses"!

Easy going me blew up again!!!I said "wow this is coming from someone who has drank so much that they are not even allowed to drive anymore??
Yep I know that was mean...
Then he said..."wow you really are having smoking withdrawls maybe you need a cig"!!!!! 8-o8-o8-o:shock::shock:

I have explained to everyone what a PV is and how it works.

It is almost like some people will always have something to complain about.

With people like that my answer is usually short and curt: "Mind your own business or get out" !!

Perhaps cruel or lacking in compassion, but I'm growing very tired of the "sheeple" ticking me off.

I'm doing this "for ME" and my loved ones, nobody else. Let the naysayers worry about their own life's shortcomings !!

VapeOn,
Greg

Trust me when I tell you that I can understand your surprise to hear such comments from people but get used to it. I have found since day one that those who support me 100% are those who never smoked a single day in their lives. Those who either smoke now or used to smoke can be your worst advocates to vaping.

Part of it is that they are jealous that you were able to quit so easily, so happily without the nasty withdrawal symptoms - another words you cheated. Another part of it is because of how society has become today. People demand too much and expect others to accept their way, their beliefs. And more importantly are those who are just plain ignorant and arrogant. I was vaping at the casino last weekend when as soon as I started vaping the guy next to me started his fake coughing routine and looking over at me every time I took a puff - a great example of how some people have become.

All I can tell you is to ignore them. You have every right to vape to your hearts content and if someone has a problem with it then it is their problem and not yours.

Don't let them get to you! Just smile at them.

I get to hear exactly the same routine from ohhh so well-meaning relatives (you know, the ones who hit AA meetings about once a year around Christmas so that they can say they're making an effort, then go out and spend $100 on a bottle of champagne to celebrate New Years....)

I've heard the "oh...well you haven't really quit, have you...." and the ever popular "You really don't have any idea what that's going to do to you after a few years"...a few songs and dances to the tune of "Nicotine is still a drug...if people had any sense it would be illegal" (thank you Mrs. Internet Ordered Prozac!)

Thankfully these folks don't live with me, so I've gotten very good at pulling the "well, I'll just go outside then if it bothers you" and if I'm feeling snarky I'll offer to give them my doctor's phone number so that they can call him and have a little chat about how awful I'm doing now that I can breath, don't need an asthma inhaler, can actually get up a flight of stairs in one shot...oh and go to a carnival with my kids and go on the rides with them and...oh....LIVE!

There are always going to be people who won't be happy no matter what....my grandmother had a good phrase for it, heh..."they wouldn't be happy if you hung 'em with a new rope".

I would keep up the firm stance with your daughter, though...and try to get her to understand that even if you haven't cut out the nicotine, you've still made HUGE steps in bettering your life. And...as nerve-wracking and outright annoying (and sort of rude) as it is, at least she gives a hoot. Not that it makes her trying to control you any easier...

Now..if someone comes along and suggests I give up coffee...we're gonna' see a REAL explosion, ROFLMAO

I agree.

I mean, your boss was just being stupid anyway and he deserved to get blown up at. Water vapor is just that...water vapor. He should be worried about boiling pasta!

Haha. Don't let them get to ya. I'm just glad all my friends are supporting me in this. They know I don't want to stop smoking, but this lets me still smoke...but be healthier!

Most of my family have been supportive, but I play in a band and the others are constantly teasing me about the PV. I blew up at one of them, so I can relate. I mean, you try to do something positive for your health and you still have naysayers pooh-poohing your decision. I just don't get it.

Just keep doing what you're doing and try to ignore it. It's your life and your health!

Thank you for the responses!!!
I WILL VAP!!!
Whenever, however, and whatever I want!
I know it is better for me, in the last 11 days I to have not had to use my inhaler for my asthma, I feel better and by God I can even laugh without having a coughing fit!!! LOL
I know my daughter means well, and I will try and educate her further on this topic....
As far as my boss??
He can kiss my sweet little vaping ....! LOL

We cannot expect people to understand what an ecig is. This is new technology that has not been promoted by advertisement or media so it is not well known. The uninformed just see something that looks similar to an analog making "smoke" so I think that they cannot really be blamed when they show concern or get upset. If an ecig did not produce visable vapor there would not be a problem.

If they think it's smoke, then they should ask themselves why they can't smell any smoke.

The funny thing is most of the people in my life are supporting me, it is just the snide comments I can do without.
I mean I have been made to feel like an outcast as a smoker for years, I have done something about that and for some people it still will not be enough.
like I said before, there will always be a select few that I will NEVER please no matter what I do.
And you know what? Thats fine, I am pleased and thats all that matters. :)

I will not snap at uninformed people, I will not snap at uninformed people, I will not snap at uninformed people........Now where did I put that PV???? LOL

lol I would have taken an overly sarcastic approach to your boss.I would have said "Oh,okay,do you agree with the reviews of my 510?Im looking to get my straw mod going or maybe some fluval action, the cartomizer fad is pretty cool too, huh? What do you think?"
When he obviously can't answer, just ask "I thought you knew about vaping?I generally don't talk about things I don't know about, that's the best way to carry yourself, don't you agree?"
lol
