We work til about mid November, and then go on unemployment until sometime in March. The fishing season ends Nov 1st, and opens back up Dec 1st, but by that time.. weather is very extreme and ice becomes very problematic. It's generally not worth it to be able to fish for just a week or two. In the spring we pretty much have to wait until we are no longer iced in at the harbor.
It doesn’t make much sense to me to open the fishing season back up Dec 1st.

Closing the season for Nov just allows the fish to spawn. Not many people fish in December or the winter. It can be very worth it if you catch like 10-20k lbs in that week or so. We were going to do it last year, but the weather projected was not looking good. Some crazies will actually somehow fish through the ice

I dug through my stuff last night looking for a resa stick kit that I did a review on. I couldn't find it or another stick mod that I had around the same time. It seems like I'm missing a box of stuff but can't find it anywhere. I'm going to try to pull everything out this weekend and do an inventory of at least what I have in boxes. I don't think I gave the resa to anyone but just can't remember what I did with it. I can picture it and a freemax twister kit in the same box but didn't find either.

I can picture the box because it was the cardboard box that the twister came in. I remember putting the smok resa in the box with the twister. The problem is that I have literally checked every place that I might have put it. I only have vape stuff in two places at home. Either in the basement or in the garage. I looked through the boxes in the basement and in my vape cabinet where I keep my flavors and mixing supplies. I just don't know anywhere else to look. I know I wouldn't have taken them to work. I do keep a few coils and some wire at work for emergency but not any extra mods besides what I carry back and forth to work.

I don’t send many pkgs thank goodness .Maybe 3 a year.
We send several large boxes to AZ every year. Sending the presents is about as much as the presents themselves. It's rediculous.

Sad if a vape store is taking advantage of vapors to make more money over what is happening, pretty low, I've used them a lot over the years, but sure put me off using them in the future.
Also sad is that many NY shops sold off their stock at losses and began shutting down only to have the ban stayed by the court. Lives are affected, employes laid off, finances wrecked. NY has become a horrible state to live and work in.

Well, looks to be a short day today. It is truly awful out on the lake, so bad that we can't even pull anchors on our nets that are tied shut. We can usually pull them in anything, but mother nature says NOPE!

    Hope y'all have a good day! :)
Sounds rough, y’all have weather in the area? We were going out this weekend, but tides aren’t in our favor. First time in ages since the water salinity is starting to return after the intrusion from the Mississippi River diversion. I was hoping to get out a line of crab traps, but oh well. Hope the water lays down for you so you can get out there

I see NY as two states. There's NYC, and then there's the rest. Sadly, the city runs both states. Illinois is the same way.

Changing of the season always brings rough weather to the great lakes. We knew we wouldn't be able to lift any nets for fish today, but wanted to strip some anchors off a net we had tied shut. Saves a lot of time when it comes to pulling the nets out of the water. The forecast was N 10-15 kts 3-5 ft waves, and instead it was E 15-20 kts(our least favorite wind direction, we like east the least) and about 5-7 ft waves. Effing weatherman! Hope you can get your traps set! You're making me hungry now
I set a crab trap once (common ones from sporting goods store), and never caught anything. I didnt have a boat, or a license:oops: but set it off this private fishing pavillion on a lake that goes out to the gulf. Then.. hurricane harvey blew my trap away to Australia, and never got another. Someday I'll give it another go.

Don’t blame you, 5-7s will beat you to pieces. Wind gets higher than 15 here, it blows the water out of the bayous. Not interested in getting stuck in the mud lol. Like that and we have to take the flat boat, which isn’t fun on the waves. This is the kind of crab traps we use, baited with hard fish heads or turkey necks. We catch as many by the dock where the fish cleaning station is as we do out in the lakes. We’re catching blues, and you can add a non commercial trapping to your fishing license for very little
