I've thought about that a lot since I live by a river behind a levee that hasn't been maintained since it was built 100 years ago. The city and State have committed to fix it but since they will all be bankrupt over Covid I don't know if that will still happen. Thing I would really like to stash is nic but that needs power for a freezer.
One of the few people I might have asked to store nic for me died a couple of years ago. His family immediately started fighting over his remains. A son arrived from out of state and got to the house first and changed the locks, he also went to his weekend place on the lake and grabbed his boat and all his guns and fishing gear. Claimed the father said that stuff should go to him. The other kids hired lawyers and I think they are still at it. Since all my friends are old like me and could peg out any time I might end up fighting through a crowd of greedy relatives to get my nic back.
