Good morning random folks :) Have you any plans today?

My only plan is to make it through another day of work. I went to the chiropractor because I was having pain in my foot and it felt like a bone was out of place or something. It's feeling better already but she did a full adjustment and my lower back was killing me all day yesterday. No matter what OTC medicine I took, it wouldn't relieve the pain. It's better today and I put some aspercreme on it this morning. I'm having a rough week so far and very much wish it was Friday already.

We had snow flurries a couple of days ago... Come on spring!

My plans are to finish shopping and work. I've bought 54 gifts for me and Mom and need 5 more. Of those 5 I know what I'm getting for 3 but I need to come up with ideas for the other 2.:eek: I plan on finishing this madness TODAY.

I'm retiring from my job of Secret Santa as of 2020. I will no longer shop for my Mom, especially for the family I don't even really like. The fat lady is singing. I QUIT! It's ridiculous at this point. And I've considered now for many years for my son and I to take a trip for Christmas. Get the hell out of dodge for a few days and not buy gifts at all. Just buy an experience instead.

The IT guy helped me yesterday and we figured out the camera on the computer they loaned me for zoom meetings is not working. YAY! So they can't see me and I can wear PJs and not even brush my hair if I don't want to during zoom meetings. :thumb:

My wife and I are rather burned out on the gift buying thing too. I don't blame you wanting to quit. It's bad enough doing it for yourself but to do it for others too is just crazy. We are buying way less this year. No big expensive gifts for the kids. We'll have a few things for them to open and give them some money. We don't really buy for anyone on my side of the family besides my niece and nephew. My sister and I agreed long ago to not send gifts to each other and I don't stay in touch with my brother. That's a long story that I really don't want to get into. However, every year we have to struggle to come up with gift ideas for my wife's family. I usually leave most of it up to her.

I admit to loving Christmas. However, there are way too many folks in this family to buy for. I live with my younger daughter so my gifts are centered around this part of the family. Older dd included also. Older son and wife get an Amazon card. No gift exchange with the younger son. We draw names for the young ones but the list doesn't include many.

I forgot to mention that this weekend while my youngest was home visiting, we decided to not get out the big Xmas tree that we usually put up and drag upstairs multiple bins of ornaments. Instead we are just going to use the little four foot tree that my wife bought a couple years ago as a second one for the house. We just aren't feeling like dealing with the up and down of the big tree. It was supposed to be less work but my wife has spent the past two days doing other decorations. I guess she feels like she needs to dress things up if we don't have the big tree. If I had known that then I would have just suggested doing the big tree.

My older brother and his wife didn't come around for about 15 years and now they are back so that's even more gifts to buy. They say they don't want anything but they are over there with bells on every Christmas morning. I mean you can't let them just watch us opening gifts. My Mom's reasoning for wanting to give us gifts is we are good kids and have never ever asked them for anything. They want to give to us. I suggested if they really want to give to us then just give money. I would love to get money! After decades of giving, and my Mom wanting to give personal gifts instead of just anything to fill the void, I'm totally out of ideas. It's exhausting. It ruins Christmas for me. We are supposed to buy what we want and Mom will pay us for it and then she gives it to us on Christmas morning. My son and I follow the rules (I'm getting new cheap pots and pans and skillets), but my middle brother and wife wait until the last minute which stresses Mom, then my older brother just doesn't know how it works. Craziness and I'm so tired.

I went to Lowe's to get my son's tools and they weren't there. Nobody there was very helpful and very rude. So I'll be ordering them online and then pick them up. While I was there I picked up the gift cards Mom wanted. I'm down to five gifts.

Dd and SIL went out Sunday and got a nice looking real tree about 7'. The lights went right on but the ornaments haven't made it yet.

I suggested drawing names. Nobody listens to me. I told Mom she will have to stop this madness. It's up to her.

I'm done with my Christmas shopping but would love to get ahead on the bunch of birthdays coming up. Between Jan and Feb there are 7 birthdays but it takes care of all but one kid for the year.
We have two birthdays in December and I have bought those as well. Mom asked for a hair dryer as her hairdresser is thinking of closing shop due to covid, and my brother is getting a gift card. I hope they don't want to give parties...I'm not going. My nephew had a bday in September and I have his gift as well as I haven't seen him lately. I've suggested stopping the bday gifts as well. Tired of it.

Morning merry mixers, and to those for whom it matters, happy hump day ;)

Seems all the rain is getting pushed north, so clear skies and dang cold!! 29 and heading for 40... and the claim is that that will continue for some time. Oh, yeah, almost winter solstice!!

It's not fair that it ruins Xmas for you. I agree that you should stop doing it.

I'm sorry you didn't have any luck at Lowes. The one near us is good and the workers are usually helpful. However, sometimes they tell where something is in the store and then it's not there. Not their fault since they move stuff around so much.

I woke this morning and had a text from my wife after I went to bed. She wanted to know what happened to a gift that she thought I was going to order for her dad. I didn't. She told me to hold off on ordering it that she was going to try to find it in a store. I of course will not remind her of that because it will get turned around on me. I'll just see if she wants me to order it now.

Hello Mixers. I've been vaping for six months on what I already have on hand. Mixing 30ml bottles of all of my favorites seems to work out that way.
Temps in the 20's to start the morning here. Pipesandcigars.com keeps rolling around in my brain as the weather gets colder. Vaping on some Christmas Spice NET this morning, thinking of what might be extracted this winter.

There is a perticular blend I have been wanting to try, C&D Yorktown. Stoved Red Virginia, mixed with bright flue cured (think sweet) Virginia and then stoved again, and finally mixed with aged Red Virginia.
But it seems to sell out rapidly, so maybe this year I will be lucky enough to get some.
