My ex-wife left soon after I was diagnosed. It broke my heart. It worked out to be a blessing though because if she hadn't I would have never met my love now. When her and I met I was finishing up chemo and explained to her that I was simply not relationship material. She ignored that...

Our first official date was the day of my last treatment, going to Pizza Hut, and me expelling everything I ate in a Blockbuster parking lot. I just knew she wouldn't come back, but she did.

I'm happy for you that she found you... and you her. Your wife sounds like a woman who knew exactly what she wanted in a man.

After my wife's second failed back fusion we hosted a Christmas get together for our families. My wife insisted. This was my wife's 2nd day home after 10+ days as a hospital inmate. Her brother brought over some really good venison sausage. My wife had some. A couple minutes later she whispered in my ear "I am going to throw up". She was using a walker at the time, so the going to the bathroom was real sloooooow. We did not make it to the bathroom but I managed to catch most of what she threw up in my cupped hands. I mean, it was just puke, who cares, I didn't. We do what we need to do.

Honestly, I would have still loved her and treated her the same, I mean, how could I not. We knew each other from youngsters on. I don't care for people, at all, who leave their spouse, or partner, because their body changed or they got sick or became disabled. I have zero respect for the ones who do leave a spouse or partner for those kinds of reasons.

I was just bridling at the idea that your appreciative eye signaled no threat because she looked better than the objects of your admiration. I knew this wasn't the case for you, but sadly it often is for others, male and female (although, let's be honest, more often male).

@Zazie, my once best friend left his wife (RIP) shortly after she was diagnosed with brain cancer. I seriously bia-tched out my ex-friend over that, almost came to blows. She had a really rough go of it with him leaving her then and with the cancer. My wife and I helped her best we were able. She went quick from the cancer but I suspect a broken heart played a role as well. She was one of my wife's best friends growing up.

It must have been a shock at the time to learn that your best friend was a terrible human being. I'm glad his wife had you and yours to help her through the end.

Not really a shock to me, I was very very angry with him. Ya just don't do what he did. IMO there is no excuse for that. And yes, to your previous post, it is usually always the guy doing the leaving. Some leave because they can't handle it when the rough times hit or they split for someone younger. Either way, ticks me off.

So I did more errands. I ordered Mom some Skechers and they came in today so I took them to her. And I went back to the hardware store and bought her some A/C filters and took them to her. We took my son’s college book to UPS to mail back to college. Ran by the tractor supply store looking around for Carhartt shirts for him.

Came back and started cutting my back yard and it immediately started raining. Just a little rain but now it’s too wet to cut. I got a few rows done at least. I’ll do it tomorrow.

My son was leaving to go to his friend’s house and was halfway down the driveway when I realized he locked the door. Caught him just in time. I had no key or phone and I would’ve had to go to a neighbor’s.

Now I’m off to do laundry and dishes. Whew...

I tested some of my guava pastry (Pastelitos de Guayaba) mix today. After 8 days steeping it is good. The SSA Guava is excellent (gonna order a 30ml btl). I'm using both WF and VT croissants for the pastry shell. Combined they make a very convincing croissant. My recipe also has WF mascarpone cheese and a touch of vanilla. Can't wait to see how it is after another 2-3 weeks. I'll likely make adjustments and a bigger batch then.
