Do you have a favorite type of thing you like to bake? Like are you more into breads or pies, or do you prefer a variety of baked goods?

I do everything, yeast breads, quick breads, desserts, cheesecakes, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, eclairs, cream puffs etc etc. there's little I don't do...meats, dinners and more. I just do everything.

Around here when I was cooking for my husbands work they fell in love with my breads the most... probably because no one makes homemade yeast breads these days, so my dinner rolls became a standing order at every pot luck.

I kind of fell into that accidentally because my husband hadn't known that he was in charge of his teams pot luck until it was too late to put a sign-up sheet out, so I ended up cooking the entire dinner for two full teams, and because of the money crunch of that expense, I did as much from scratch as possible... and one of those things was 7 dozen homemade dinner rolls

So while the entire dinner with included desserts was a hit, it seemed the yeasted dinner rolls was the star... so for years I had to make (per unanimous request) 7-8 dozen homemade dinner rolls for every potluck they had, on top of the meats (which was my husbands responsibility as manager) and always (1) dessert.

As seen people saying Chefs now does Dinner Lady Lemon Tart as a one shot, was going to place a order with them, but it's all gone already, so going to hold off doing a order for now :(

Dinner Lady Lemon Tart is the one juice I have never got bored of, and still have around 15 bottles in the juice cupboard, but knowing I won't be able to buy the pre made, was excited to see now do a one shot, so hopefully they get it again soon.

I have tried a few recipes for it, but none have been that close IMO.

:eek:Ou they are out already!!!! don't look at me.......

I decided lemon is not for me. I really was hoping (in the past). I love lemon meringue pie. I finally mixed up 400mL of tobacco for me. It should last a few months or longer. I like simple with Tobacco flavors. I'm not fussy with them.
I also mixed up 100mL of a caramel praline ice cream using SSA vanilla ice cream, Flv praline, FLv vanilla marshmallow (for a sweetener/mouthfeel) , SSA milk caramel fudge and SSA milk and caramel cream. I won't touch it for two weeks.
I'm planning on a raspberry ice cream using the Plain SSA ice cream and SSA raspberry syrup. I think I will keep it simple on that one.

...watching for a Twinkie mix recipe :w00t: trying to remember if I like twinkies I haven't had one since I was a kid but it sounds good :)
sending positive vibes you do well with your vac  knowing your last vac reaction and suffering from an aggressive autoimmune disorder myself I understand the angst
LOL. If you can't remember if you like twinkies, then you didn't, or you just don't have a sweet tooth.
I haven't had one in so many years I'm afraid to count. But, I can't forget the spongy yellow cake and the sweet white cream within.

I prefer homemade breads to store bought... they really are heavenly. Nothing beats warm from the oven pita with homemade hummus, or just a piece of fresh bread with butter... :) I used to make even our hamburger buns... which my husband thinks are to die for.. lol.

I haven't been able to do any baking for about two years now, but am hoping to heal up enough to get back to it by next year... if not by Christmastime... :)

I decided lemon is not for me. I really was hoping (in the past). I love lemon meringue pie.

Some people do not do well with citrus vapes. Grapefruit flavor gave me a lot of unpleasant mouth issues and my friend had issues with vaping lemon and orange flavors. As for food items I am a serious lemon lover. I drink a lot of lemon water and lemon in my green tea, sanded lemon hard candy was a real mouth saver during chemo.

It might be Twinkie trauma blanking my memory... My very first job was for a temp service that had me dress up in a Twinkie the kid costume for a grocery store promo. It was all fun and games until some kids grabbed me and stuffed my Twinkie head in a bread rack and I was stuck there after that it's all a blur.....

I gained a few pounds just looking at those delicious rolls. Last winter I went though a phase that I taught myself how to make parker house rolls. Hubs loved them. I can't eat them so my enthusiasm diminished. :)
I am fond of twinkies as a child. Last winter I purchased a box and it was a carb day. I was disappointed. I bought some corn syrup to make a home made version (real food) of twinkies/sponge cake on my next carb day.
If I was going to make it diy eliquid I would use a spongecake/pound cake base, marshmallow vanilla and frosting.

Yup. There's such an enormous diff between eating and inhaling. Cinnamon vapes and most but not all citrus vapes really are irritating. But I love eating those flavors.

Twinkie trauma. That's a great phrase. Sorry that the circumstances weren't. Twinkie trauma, I'll either wake up in the middle of the night tonight hungry or scared. Hopefully hungry.

Boy, I am exhausted! Trying to keep up with my daughter and my sister at a flea market, impossible! :w00t: Then a giant antique store, double impossible! :w00t::w00t: I'm just too old and fat. When we got home and I was trying to catch up on all the posts, I fell asleep. This is why I'm posting so late. The main thing is my daughter had fun, so I'm happy.

Just got home a little bit ago from the bday party. I drank more beer tonight than I have in the last year. I think I had 5 in four hours. I’m about ready for bed now.

It sounds like both of you had a pretty good Saturday.

I had a better time than expected but wouldn’t say I really enjoyed it. The beer helped.
