Doubt I could install a coil these days without those flip down magnifiers. Once I could but not any more.

Someone posted pics where they had cut V shaped grooves across the top of the post under the screw head, supposed to keep the wire in place when you tighten the screw. I haven't tried it yet but I saved the pics. I can post them if you want.
Sure, I’d like to see the pic.

I just use cheap magnifying "readers" from Dollar Tree ($1.00) to see when I am building.
Tried on a few last time we were in dollar tree but didn’t find anything that would work.

    Maybe something along these lines?

Weird, but it does go to the right place.
I have had that or something very like that for years. I could never get used to trying to work under the light. I’m going to dig it out and try it again. There has to be a better way….LOL[/QUOTE]

I got something like that and never used it. Just too hard to hold your work in the focus area and lean down to the lens. I saw some of the type they use in labs. Much bigger with lots of movement on the lens arms. But very expensive.

Now I have the ones that fit over your head with lenses that flip up and down. They have built in lights as well. Bit more expensive but work great for me.

    That’s another option.

The new Dvarw has little tabs or whatever that are supposed to make it easier to trap your wire. It works the opposite with me because I can’t see exactly where my wire is in relation to these dang little tabs.

The lighter gauges aren't as stiff, even after annealing.

    Maybe something along these lines?

I think I was projecting: I have a hard time feeling thin wire, so I can have trouble manipulating it. I was considering trying 26 gauge to see if it's easier for me to tell that I'm handling it.

That particular slot in the pic looks rather deep.

That they do. And the one on the left in the pic is on the wrong side of the screw hole. Tightening the screw might push it out a bit...

Welp, that puts an end to my dream.

Nah, not if it's touch that's giving you fits. The heavier and stiffer wire might give more feel to the task for you.
