Rut roe...

I have some orders that are delayed due to being sent back by US customs and also an order of some pre-ordered items. This might not end well.

US of A is not playing around anymore.:)
(sarcastic smiley face)
China, just like the USA, is making certain Big tobacco remains front and center. Our two countries are exactly the same there.

Velvet Glove, Iron Fist: China's war on vaping
The Chinese government has arrested Chu Lam Yiu, the owner of Huabao, China's biggest e-cigarette company.

She is being held in “residential surveillance”, a form of off-grid detention used by the Chinese Communist party and criticised by human rights groups for lacking due process. Her son, Lam Ka Yu, who was educated in the US and the UK and is in his late 20s, was also detained.

Eighteen months ago I asked why the Chinese government, which owns the world's biggest tobacco company, was clamping down on vaping. It was a rhetorical question. vaping is an existential threat to tobacco.

It is obvious what China Tobacco's motivation is. They fear missing out on cigarette sales if people switch to vaping. The Chinese government, insofar as it can be distinguished from the tobacco monopoly, doesn't want to miss out on tax revenue.

Sound familiar?

The smoking rate in the USA is ~14.0%. That's an estimated 34.1 million adults who currently smoke cigarettes.

In China the smoking rate is 45%. o_O

Velvet Glove, Iron Fist: E-cigarette regulation - money talks
Americans are smoking more during the coronavirus pandemic because they are spending less on travel and entertainment and have more opportunities to light up. They are also switching back to traditional cigarettes from vaping devices in the wake of federal restrictions on e-cigarette flavors.

Malice, corruption or unbelievable incompetence?
<All of the above>

Money, money, money... moneeee! Greedy batards.

The Chinese ecig vendors are willing to flout the rules of the US by falsifying customs documents, i.e. "filters", but I'll bet a wooden nickel that they won't mess around with the CCP. This very well may spell the end of our hardware from China.

I would bet actual Big dollars on that. Vaping companies in China won't tangle with the CCP (officially the Communist Party of China, CPC).

Anyone following the Chinese news, or the worldwide vaping news, would have known this was coming. Looks like it's coming sooner rather than later.

I haven't ordered anything from China since last year. My current orders have come from elsewhere.

It makes me wonder about the wholesale business. I mean, all the B&M stores get their inventory from China as well. I guess that will be killed off as well.
    Unfortunately, looking like it.

I wondered about the same thing. Honestly I don't think anyone can answer that yet. Surely China is intent on killing off vaping for its citizens.

One thought I had is they will likely adapt legislation which would allow for the manufacturing of vaping products meant for export. I'm confident the Chinese government knows there are billions of dollars at play internationally in the vaping market. They won't want to lose out on that kind of money.

Vaping's Growth (Still) Can't Offset Smoking's Decline | The Motley Fool
Verified Market Research estimates the worldwide vaping market will grow from $10 billion in 2020 to nearly $74 billion by 2028. Mordor Intelligence says the global e-cigarette industry generated nearly $19 billion of revenue last year with about 17% annual growth expected through 2026.

For B&M stores here, once regulations are finalized, the import of vape gear (other than approved items) will likely cease.

No China will begin regulating domestic vape industry, but won't be shutting down their $8 billion export industry.
I'd be more concerned with customs crackdown.
China's Decision to Regulate Vaping Products Has Global Implications
Could even force them to make better products:
“The legal recognition of e-cigarettes is a milestone for the Chinese vaping industry because it eliminates the uncertainty about the industry’s future,” Frankie Chen, the global PR manager for SMOORE, told Filter. “Considering China’s role in the global vaping supply chain, the national mandatory standards will significantly improve the product safety and provide global vapers with better products. Since the standards set higher requirements for vaping manufacturing, it is expected that only the responsible manufacturer with comprehensive safety management can be compliant.”

In other words, BT products. BT failed with Congress and the FDA at shutting us down, so they went to the CCP.

Perhaps they could just move their manufacturing to somewhere that does allow them to ship.

Vaping factories are huge in China, That’s where most stuff is made and sold. They can shut down vaping in China but I very much doubt they won’t let pkgs be sent.

They have a warehouse in Texas. I bought some stuff direct from them when they were shipping from there.

I just have a hard time imagining them shutting down a billion dollar business. Surely the government over there must be getting some kind of taxes or something from it.
    I’m very sure they are.

What would you do with a sack full of Pro Tanks? I really don't see any point in keeping them in a tub under the bed until I die and someone throws them in the trash.

Got around 20 tanks plus a bunch of airflow bases, glass, adapters, o-rings etc. Plus a few dozen coil heads with enough spare parts to rebuild them forever. I used to think maybe what if all my other tanks broke, but that won't happen in the real world.

Problem is I doubt many people would want to rebuild PT heads anymore. And even if you were willing to do that it's not the greatest vape. Guess I could put them up on classified for $1. Someone with a worse hoarding problem than me might go for it. Or keep them until China shuts the door and the vape market totally dies. They might be useful to someone then.

I noticed the box under my posts that showed how many cigs I didn't smoke has disappeared. Did that happen after the recent upgrade? I scanned a few pages at random and didn't anyone with a box.
It probably did happen after the upgrade.
