I took my wife's car in for new tires two days ago and finally got it back today. I totally understand though because they are understaffed and having trouble finding workers.

What I don't understand is the guy calls me and said my brakes and rotors needed changing. So, I played along. I asked for a quote and he said $839. I verified this was for the 2017 Nissan Rogue. I asked what was wrong with the pads and rotors that were on it and his reply was, "You have 1mm of pad on the front, and none on the rear, and the rotors are grooved heavily".

My blood started to boil.

I just changed the pads and had the rotors resurfaced at O'riellys last week for less than $200. The car hadn't left my driveway since.

I told him to let me call him back because I had to discuss this with my wife first. I jumped in my truck and headed up there. I wanted to make sure once I started raising hell that they didn't screw her car up.. Plus I take great satisfaction in seeing a man's face when I call him on his BS.

I showed him my brakes and rotors, all personal and close.

I hope Dylan learned a lesson today.
A UK motoring organisation did a survey many moons ago and found that 9 out of 10 garages tell you that work needs doing when it doesn't. They drove a car in and intimated that there was something wrong with the clutch (not sure you use the same term in the US!!).....terrible :-x

I am still scratching my head about it. They should have at the very least been able to see the pads and realized they couldn't say they were bad.

I think what gets under my skin most is how much I allow this kind of stuff to affect me. I was pretty upset.
So would have I been.

ETA. It's fraud!!!

Good morning. It’s a cold morning but it is Friday. I’m sure the roads aren’t going to be great but will be better than yesterday morning. At least it’s not snowing any more.

Hi Fran! We will do our best to keep this Arctic blast from spreading. :thumb:

These temps are supposed to last through Saturday. Sunday upper 30's and then the wild and wacky weather roller coaster takes us right back to... the freezer.

I dislike dressing for the weather and then coming inside to strip everything off again more than once a day. It’s a PITA. When I worked overdoors I was out all day so that wasen’t so bad, Not that I’d want to do it again.

When you tried dripping last time was something unsuccessful?
I’ve tried dripping several times in the past and just couldn’t get to like it. I’m hoping with your suggestions I’ll have better luck.

Some roads were still pretty bad this morning but I made it ok and in a decent amount of time. There was definitely more traffic today than yesterday.

Glad you got there with no problems.
