Do you dry burned a new coil?
Always. It removes any impurities. And I only dry burn to a dull orange glow. A coil, wire type doesn't matter, new or used, should never be dry burned to a bright orange or reddish glow (if so toss it).

Do you dry burn a coil in between wicking.
Always. Dry burning a coil between wicking very effectively removes any gunk and burns off previous juice from the coil.

I roll spaced coils for every RBA.

Happy weekend :)

We almost saw the sun yesterday, or a good imitation. At least the sky was a little brighter... but possibly dry for the next couple days, so yard work is on the agenda.

Another question. Do you dry burned a new coil? Do you dry burn a coil in between wicking.

Hmm, is it a dry burn or just a pulsing to check for hot spots and such? I do the latter, on a new coil. Before wicking, of course. And I do dry burn after cleaning and before rewicking. For me, it's usually gunk on the coil and not a gone south wick, so, yeah, dry burn to clean that off.

Thanks, SMT :) That could just be the problem with my dvarw coils. Kinda strange because I've always had the habit of dry burning to red in a couple short hits. First problems I've had.

What squonker do the rest of you like?
My favorite squonkers are all mechs. I have many more of those versus regulated.

I'm making the assumption that you are specifically asking about regulated squonkers. In fact I know you are. ;)

My favorite regulated squonker is the Psyclone Mods SqEvo DNA60.

The Pico Squeeze 2's running Arctic Fox (and TC) are my second favorite regulated squonkers.

For a regulated mod, I like the sqeeeze 2 but it is too easy to over squonk for me when I'm not paying attention, which is most of the time. :) The pulse 2 is second to me from my Lunas, wish it would show watts when in bypass mode, really it would be a simple thing to do.:):)

If I accidentally dry burn any coil to a bright orange or red glow I remove and toss it. A coil is ruined once it gets to that point. There are several discussions and YT videos explaining why that is so. Coils dry burned to that point end up tasting like crap. It doesn't matter what type of wire.

If you were to just pulse your coils, at a low wattage, they would never get to a bright orange or red. :)

Dry burning with regular simple round wire or basic claptons doesn't require much power. For simple round wire 8-9 watts is sufficient. I dry burn non-chunky basic claptons between 10-14 watts. For chunkier wire, and more exotic coils, I dry burn between 14-20 watts.

Immediately following a dry burn on a used coil I will do one of two things.

    1) Rinse the coil under water and dry burn again.
    or...
    2) Drip some VG or PG on the coil and dry burn again.

I repeat those steps as needed until my coil is clean.

I wouldn't mind a Pico squeeze but hard to find one.

Good points. I'll have to stop being lazy. Later I'll see if I can resurrect my dvarws. I was getting a little ...... at three in a row with that burnt taste I couldn't get by. I guess I overdid my dry burn.

    Somewhere between here and there
I haven’t decided as yet if I even want a squonker. I’ve read the Pulse is better for big hands. Is the Centaurus as big as it looks?

I don’t think it’s too big. I fire with my pointer finger and squonk with my middle. I don’t have large hands and it’s comfortable to hold.

Yes, and yes. With new coils I burn them in and rake them to make sure they are heating properly. In between I dry burn and brush the coil with this little wire brush to clean it.

I can't remember the last time I over-squonked. For me it's a habit to squonk after every hit to keep the wick well saturated.

    I still use and like my Luna's (I have 8). :D

I bought eight because I am planning on reshaping some of their bodies. And I am also planning on converting a couple to Full Mech squonkers.

A couple years ago @charlie1465 posted a photo (from someone he knows) of a Luna that was customized and contoured. That chap did all the work. I plan on doing something similar (but different) with some of my Luna's.
    Contoured Luna.jpg

It looks much nicer versus a stock squared off Luna.

The Luna is a semi-mech device with protections programmed into the circuit board. It is not a true bypass, or mech, mod. A Luna has only one mode of operation. I've had a couple lengthy conversations with the engineers at Asmodus regarding the Luna's.

FWIW, there is no room inside a Luna for a display or the electronics required to support one. That would have required a larger sized mod in order to accommodate what would then be a regulated device.

I've taken one of my Luna's apart:
1IMG_0890.JPG The board is sealed (per Asmodus) which protects it in case any juice were to get inside (never happens with mine). Just below the board is where the battery is installed.

    IMG_0866.JPG Alternate view.

IMG_0874.JPG Looking down where the squonk bottle is. Also you can see the fire button on the right.

IMG_0882.JPG The large gauge red wire leads to the positive battery terminal.

The Psyclone Sq, could you give me a shipping quote from you to me? I will top it with a Psyclone Citadel.

    Thankyouverymuch.

Must be the pics that make it look big. Maybe it's those three buttons in the front.
