What are ya’ll up to this evening?

Getting stuff ready for the dishwasher and floor installers. Had to clear out under the sink and a couple cabinets so they can install the dishwasher. We moved most of the stuff out of the bedroom yesterday.

So you’re finally getting this stuff done tomorrow?

Yes, finally. That is if a tornado doesn’t blow the house away overnight. You never know with the string of bad luck we’ve been having.

What are ya’ll up to this evening?

Years ago I put up a fence and built a frame on my side of it to use for grapes. Must be 10 years now I've had grapes there. But every year just before they are ready to pick the birds move in. One day I have dozens of bunches of almost ripe grapes, the next morning every single grape is gone. They must gather from all over Indy and come by in a giant swarm. Spread the word guys, time to drop by Mick's place.

I saw a tip online. You can put a net over the entire thing, but it has to be totally enclosed. Even a small gap underneath and the birds will find a way in. Or you can cover each bunch in a paper bag. Supposedly if the birds can't see them they give up and move on. I ordered a pack of paper bags from Amazon, tonight I went through and put 40 bags up. There are still probably 20 bunches left so I'll have to order some more bags.

I planted a persimmon tree 6 or 7 years ago. Never got more than a handful of fruit. But this year it's covered in fruit. Should be a good harvest.

Best thing though, it's been so hot and dry that the grass hasn't grown for a month. Turning brown in places but no mowing.

I hope the bags save your grapes.

Good morning. I slept in until 5:45. I’m glad that the floor and dishwasher install will be done today. It has seemed like forever waiting for it. It’s nice also to have a day off work.
