I’m pleased that I have a pretty empty house til next Tuesday. Dd and young son left for the airport in Boston this morning. They are going to meet middle daughter in Colorado and do some hiking and whatnot.

Beautiful time of the year for hiking in Colorado.

Good morning. Nothing exciting to report besides the new Alieno that I posted a picture of. I really don't even have time to give it a proper testing with all the reviews I need to do. I guess that'll be my reward for finishing them all.

    Well, it’s a nice reward.

Morning Mixers, not much news but the word is that the kid who attacked my granddaughter got 1 week suspension. Not nearly enough to me and Grandma.
Let's hope it teaches him something.

    Morning, mixers.

Weather still on repeat, and still no rain in the guess. Typically by this time in October we've had well over 2". Not good.

Other than trying to keep some of the shrubs alive, and raising the mountain that waits for fire...

Going to mix hitt’s tobacco recipe this morning. I don’t really want it to be tobacco up front so I’m going to use a small amount of a NET..

I find that with a lot of mixes a light touch of a tobacco can add body without much flavor change. Go for it :)

I baked a cake last night for a funeral dinner today and just got back from dropping it off. There's another funeral tomorrow so I have to bake another cake today. My ladies group is having a brunch on Sunday morning and I've been in charge of that. I have to go set up the place on Saturday and then bake some pigs in a blanket. I also have to go in early Sunday morning to get things ready. After the brunch, another group is holding a potluck, so I got to throw a green bean casserole in the oven for that. I'm keeping busy these next few days.

Trying a Perique NET from Stixx. Recommended at 8-10%. I'm trying 4%.

That's too bad. Mine is still working. I don't even remember if I have ever changed the battery in it.
I only can think of one time I changed the batteries in mine. When it stopped working this time I thought it was the batteries. When I took them out they had all that white stuff on them so obviously they were junk. New batteries didn’t work. Bummer but it was 11 years old.

I had a similar thing happen to a piece of test equipment that I don't use often at work. It's a digital meg ohm meter. Years ago I used a meg ohm meter quite often but these days it's not really necessary very often.

Kinda makes me want to remove the batteries between uses.

Yes, sounds like at least one sprung a leak. If that's not too bad, sometimes you can clean the contacts enough to complete the circuit. I've used an xacto / hobby knife to scrape the spring. An emery board cut to fit can also be useful.

Anything that's not used (or used often), and uses alkaline batteries, yes, good idea.
