We don’t do anything special for New Years Eve or New Year’s Day.
When I was a kid there was a tradition called first footing. You carried a silver coin for wealth, a piece of coal for warmth, and a slice of bread for food. Giving those three items guaranteed a good year for the recipient. You had to be a male with black hair, which I was. It was around since Viking times in Scotland and the north of England. You could knock on any door with a light on above it after midnight with your 3 gifts and they would invite you in and give you a drink. Later I used to go downtown in London and hang out all night in rowdy drunken crowds.

Now I stay home. Can't go to bed early though because the crazies start shooting guns off at midnight.

Morning, mixers.

Not much change in the weather here, still too warm for, well, almost January... although still claiming the temp will drop next week.

The bulk of the storms are stalled on the coast, might get more light rain here.

Being on the west coast, we sometimes watch the NY ball drop - at 9 PM :) Then set the dvr to catch various fireworks and watch those the next day.

My daughter said she was going to leave to drive here at 9 but we knew better. She left at 11 and should be here around 2. The outlaws are coming around 5.
Well you'll still have some time with her before the outlaws get there.
