It didn’t. I ended up having to pull an engine and generator to replace part of the generator. Five hours later I’m almost finished. Probably another 45 minutes to finish tomorrow. I’m totally exhausted. I’m not doing anything tonight.
Well, it was a good thought.

Stopped at the auto shop today to pick up some stuff. Asked if they sold small batteries like for my John Deere rider, they do. Last time I mowed I had to hook it up to the truck to start it. So tomorrow I need to take the old battery out and head back to the auto shop. The weather is perfect for grass, rainy and not too hot, so it's growing like crazy.

I'm guessing you should start the mower once in a while during the winter to keep the battery topped up.

You could buy a little battery maintainer. They are basically little trickle chargers. My old boss used to run them on his boat batteries.

That sounds like a better plan than starting the mower up and driving it out of the garage in the winter. I'll see if the auto shop has them tomorrow. Never heard of trickle chargers before. The tech has moved on big time since I last bought a charger, which was probably 25 years ago.

edit - went ahead and ordered a NOCO trickle charger from Amazon. From the comments it might rejuvenate the mower battery and save me from having to buy a new one. If not it will keep my new battery from dying next winter.
