Went to the zoo yesterday, wife wanted to see the new chimp setup. They have 3 living areas connected by a glass walkway way up high so they can go from place to place.
There's also a couple of vertical glass shafts with stairs so they can come down from the walkways to ground level and check out the people. They don't seem interested in grownups, but they like meeting kids. Watched one of them for a while. If there was a kid there it got its face up close to the glass then played a game where it pointed to an area of its face, like nose or ear, and waited for the kid to point to the same place on their own face. When a kid got it right the chimp clapped its hands. The chimp even kissed one of the kids
through the glass. The kids loved it. It was like being in a reverse zoo where the animals came down to check us out.
My favorites are the hippos though. They have a huge enclosure. There was one big hippo hanging around a large rock they use for scratching their backs. It charged at any other hippo that came close to its rock.
