Painters are due to start today on the outside of my house. It's mostly cedar with a couple of short walls done in cement siding. Wish I could get it all done with cement, it looks great and lasts forever. I replaced around half the cedar myself 5 years ago. The older parts of the house didn't have anything under the siding, the cedar was just nailed to the studs and it deteriorated. The rest is in OK shape, just needs a few boards at the bottom replacing. The painter did a couple of houses in the neighborhood. We got good recommendations. He's going to pressure wash it, replace the bad boards, then primer and 2 coats of Sherman Williams. Should last longer than we will be around.

Got some news about what's going to happen this winter in Indiana.
"Indiana is poised to have a "very cold and snowy" winter this year, according to the Farmer's Almanac. The Midwest and Ohio Valley, it writes, are set up for a "classic winter wonderland" of snow.

Later on they explained that it could be colder or warmer than usual depending on various factors. With more or less precipitation than usual. And they pointed out that historical records show that the Almanac predictions have the same level of reliability as tossing a coin.
My own history is that last year was the first time in over 10 years that I had to dig out the driveway. 20 years ago I had to dig out the driveway multiple time every winter.
So now I'm ready.
