@FranC — Some Sweet Rice inspirations. Since rice is a bland taste, the recipes tend to include some type of spice such as cinnamon, bergamot, cardamon, nutmeg, etc. I think you do not like spices. If you do, per HIC’s bergamot is earthy, aromatic orange you may know from Earl Grey tea. Goes well with orange and brandy. Cardamon a sweet, earthy spice related to ginger. If you dislike ginger, you may not like Cardamon.
Rice Custard w/ Pistachio — pistachio with no spices and no coconut
Rice of a nation - Cinnamon — with white chocolate, eliminate the cinnamon
Thrice Pudding Twice — caramel
I looked at RL recipes for other alternatives:
Rum and raisins or just raisin, can add almonds or pistachios
Apricot, can add in brandy, rum or bourbon
Almond or pistachios
If I come across other inspirations will let you know. Whatever flavors you use should not require a long steep due to FE Sweet Rice reputation for fading.
